You will be assessed on your current ability before you get started, which will allow the school to assign you to the appropriate group. Apart from working on the four pillars of language study (reading, writing, listening, and speaking), you should also expect your school to organise activities and days out with your peers. These activities let everyone get to know each other better, and also provide a real-life context for using the language you are all learning together.

English + NYC Discovery

The Group Experience Program lessons (15 hours per week) all take place outside the classroom, in outdoor or indoor locations all over the city: parks, gardens, indoor markets, public atriums and other green spaces. There are indoor locations for rainy days, so lessons are guaranteed every day regardless of the weather.

Key features: -Immersive group language sessions; -Improve fluency (even after just 1 week!); -Explore different NYC locations daily; -Engaging weekly NYC-themed conversations; -Small groups (maximum 8 people); -Meet other international travelers at your same language level; -Three cultural excursions (Discovery Days), usually Tuesday through Thursday; -Sessions led by professional language guide.

The program includes:

• English language program of 15 classes per week
• Accommodation: double and single rooms in suite style units with air-conditioning; full board from Monday to Friday and brunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays
• Weekly activity program: supervised activities every afternoon and evening, including 5 off-campus field trips per week
• Placement test
• End of course certificate
• Free internet access

This course consists of 20 lessons per week and accommodation at Long Island University in a single, twin or triple standard room or double, triple or quad room with ensuite. This will be decided closer to the time and on availability. This option is with full board served in an on-site canteen and packed lunch at the weekend. The room has a wardrobe, a desk, a chair and are equipped with air-conditioning with linen changed weekly. Students are responsible for keeping their own space clean and tidy, whilst the communal facilities, including the bathroom, are cleaned daily. There are laundry facilities in the residence building and both wash clothes and towels are provided.

There are afternoon and evening activities daily, one full-day excursion and an optional half-day excursion.

The activities may be on-site or near to the centre and are likely to involve sport, drama or an evening activity. Options for these 3 types are below: Sports such as football, mini Olympics, volleyball and basketball. Drama and performance activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops. Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show and team games.

This course is eligible for students with an F-1 visas.
