Students working with Kaplan Edinburgh study 15 hours per week on improving their communicative skills for everyday and work-related situations using the school’s own methods and materials. Some of the skills you will be working on include: listening, fluency development, pronunciation, reading, grammar, writing, and vocabulary development.

This programme represents the opportunity to live with your teacher in their home, in this case in the rural Scottish town of Galashiels. This location is suitable for those students who prefer to live in a quiet, more community-based environment than what you can typically find in a more metropolitan setting. You will have 15 one-to-one classes every week, and you get to determine what the topics will be since these classes are exclusively for you.

All teachers for the home tuition programme possess either a teaching certificate or a university degree that qualifies them for the position - so you can be sure that your classes will be professionally planned and carried out. The General Professional course is a practical immersion course - taking learners out of the 'classroom' in the afternoon and into businesses and areas of historic/natural/professional interest in the afternoon.

There are also socialising events in the evening and on the weekend - both on the Saturday and Sunday.

Learners have a fixed 15 hours of classroom learning in the morning (weekdays) and a further 20+ hours of guided listening, speaking practice in various fun, immersive contexts.

Please note that for students to be able to participate in the full programme of excursions and activities, a two-week stay is the standard.
