The full-time English course from ACCESS International English Language Centre is led by teachers who are committed to getting their students to a level where they can competently communicate in the English language. You will take 15 hours of carefully designed one-to-one lessons with your teacher in their home, which could be based on any topic that you are interested in. The General English programme from Hansa Language Centre has its students work on all the aspects of English study that you would expect from a course with a general approach: grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening, and plenty of conversation practice. The school takes pride in being able to offer small class sizes, which has the benefit of promoting better communication between teachers and all students.

These classes take place at the Yonge Street campus, on a weekly commitment of 20 hours per week. All participants are assigned to a group that most closely represents their current English level, but can later be changed depending on your progress and other factors. New students can start on practically any Monday of the year, so you’ll be able to jump in whenever you want.

With a general approach, this English course is ideal for a wide variety of people from different backgrounds. You’ll improve your confidence and communication skills steadily as the weeks go by, which you’ll achieve by working on tasks related to all the fundamental skills of language acquisition: writing, reading, speaking and listening.

Classes take place from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays being reserved for a free activity for participants to take advantage of, or alternatively a lesson on a specific topic.

IGK uses a digitally enhanced curriculum supplemented with Northstar and Headway materials. Students need to provide their own laptop computer, tablet or smart phone to access this curriculum.

The General English course delivered at EC’s Montreal location is ideal for anybody who wants to level up their language skills. The pace set by the school is a manageable 20 lessons per week, so you will make considerable progress in a fairly short period of time - while having time left over to get out and about in Montreal.

In terms of course content and methodology, the school adheres to the tried and tested system of helping students develop their skills in the key areas of language: grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking.

With the Study & Live in your Teacher’s Home programme offered by HLI, you will live as a guest in your tutor’s home just as the name suggests. During your stay, you will be given 15 hours of one-to-one classes every week, the content of which is to be decided by you, the student. 15 hours of private classes per week is already a considerable amount of English practice, but you will also have constant access to speaking practice since you can just strike up a conversation with the teacher and their family whenever you are all together.

The school makes a deliberate effort to try to match you with a teacher and family that fits your interests and goals - in particular when the student wants to study specific subject fields, like engineering and so on. Your host family will provide you with three meals every day, so you don’t need to worry about preparing your own food while you enjoy settling into Vancouver.

Your host family will likely give you a tour of the city, in which they might show you the city’s unique public transport option, the SeaBus that connects to Downtown Vancouver, as well as the best stops to use for the buses and the SkyTrain.

This course consists of: 20 hours of general English lessons focusing on vocabulary, reading, writing, grammar, and oral skills per week 10 hours of elective lessons where students have a choice of 1 of the following: grammar and writing, conversation and listening, or TOEFL preparation per week.
Each additional month after 6 months is CAD 1600 per month.
