The full-time English course from ACCESS International English Language Centre is led by teachers who are committed to getting their students to a level where they can competently communicate in the English language. The school’s methodology places emphasis on conversation and listening comprehension skills, but you will also develop foundational skills such as grammar accuracy, writing, and even idioms and slang in order to learn how people speak English in real-life situations.

Core English is the academy’s standard English programme, offering a general approach to learning English that would benefit all students who need to learn the fundamental skills of the language - reading, writing, speaking and listening.

This General English course at OHC’s Toronto location provides students with a curriculum that adheres to the standards laid out by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, providing students with the environment they need to level up their fundamental English skills.

These classes are highly international, meaning that you’ll meet people from around the world, and get large amounts of English conversation experience while you do it.

If you’ve ever wanted to study English in Canada, then HLI’s homestay programme could be what you’re looking for. You will take 15 hours of carefully designed one-to-one lessons with your teacher in their home, which could be based on any topic that you are interested in. Three meals will be provided by your host family every day, which is often an excellent opportunity to sit down and chat, and learn about the Canadian culture in Toronto.

Toronto is known for its extremely cold winters, so be sure to pack a suitcase full of your warmest attire if you plan to stay here outside of the Summer months. The General English programme from Hansa Language Centre has its students work on all the aspects of English study that you would expect from a course with a general approach: grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening, and plenty of conversation practice. The school takes pride in being able to offer small class sizes, which has the benefit of promoting better communication between teachers and all students.

These classes take place at the Yonge Street campus, on a weekly commitment of 20 hours per week. All participants are assigned to a group that most closely represents their current English level, but can later be changed depending on your progress and other factors. New students can start on practically any Monday of the year, so you’ll be able to jump in whenever you want.

With EC’s General English course, you can learn at a pace that’s neither too fast nor too slow, at 15 hours per week. The lessons are focused on the skills of Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing, and there are 4 to take part in from Monday to Friday.

Studying just 15 hours a week will give you plenty of time for discovering everything Toronto has to offer newcomers, which is especially useful for those people who need to learn English but also need to take care of other matters in their day-to-day.

This course consists of: 20 hours of general English lessons focusing on vocabulary, reading, writing, grammar, and oral skills per week 10 hours of elective lessons where students have a choice of 1 of the following: grammar and writing, conversation and listening, or TOEFL preparation per week.
Each additional month after 6 months is CAD 1600 per month.

Kaplan Toronto’s General English consisting of 20 lessons per week allows students to develop their core English skills, and combine English lessons with their travels thanks to Kaplan’s unique K+ curriculum. Their balanced approach is based on reading, writing, listening, conversation, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Students will also have access to K+ Online learning materials, making it easier to study independently and productively from your apartment.

The course is composed of General Language lessons, project sessions, special interest lessons and lecture sessions taught via the EF Efekta Learning System.
Included are digital learning media, EF Course Certificate, EFSET Certificate of Achievement, a 3-month English post-course in My EF, a welcome party, town tour and a graduation party.

InTuition Toronto offers its Classic course for those who want to learn English on a more flexible time commitment, at 15 hours of lessons per week. Although this option is the least intensive among InTuition’s course types, it is still enough to promote significant improvements in your English skills if students complete all assignments as requested.

An integral part of this experience is that you will live with a host family, who will provide you with your three daily meals and also show you around Toronto. Living in a new place is easier when you have a host family on hand to consult on any doubts you might have about the language, culture, or any other topic.
