What our students said about Vancouver

Vancouver is a beautiful city, you can experience a lot and get to know many cultures. Food prices are relatively expensive compared to Europe. You shouldn't visit China Town in the evening because the main street is full of homeless people with tents. People are relatively open and sometimes approach you out of the blue and ask you how you are. You can also just take the bus to Whistler without any problems.

Vancouver is a nice city to visit, but it's more about the nature in the surrounding that make it a special place. You can be at first surprised by the amount of homeless in downtown. And living there is a bit expensive.

LCI Language School

There are two or three teachers whose teaching methods are good. Other teachers teach by playing games. Generally, the first class in the morning and afternoon from Monday to Thursday, which is more formal, the others classes are including some interactive. The extra classes on Friday are paid speaking activity. This week, the teacher was sick, so a new teacher led us to play word guessing games in the class. The class went by but there wasn't much knowledge that we can learn from the school. Compared with the other students who have been here for half a year, their English is not very good and I don’t feel that they have improved a lot.
The learning experience is just so so.

I particularly liked the location of the school. It is very central and easy to reach. The school also offers free activities several times a week. I chose this school again because I had a great experience with it a few years ago. I was there for 2.5 weeks and had great teachers. My English improved a lot during that time and the lessons were fun. This time, too, I had two great teachers who were attentive to the students and provided assistance. Overall, you get a warm welcome at the school and the staff are friendly and helpful.

In the school, consideration is given to the individual strengths and weaknesses of the students. This enabled me to improve in the areas relevant to me. The small class size has made a decisive contribution to my progress and I would definitely visit the school again. To get the best experience, you should take part in some activities, especially at the beginning. The organisation of the language course was very quick and straightforward and if any questions arose, I always received an answer very promptly.

Information about Vancouver

Why Vancouver? Vancouver is Canada´s 3rd largest city beautifully situated with ocean and mountains surrounding the city. The city boasts Stanley park with a 10 thousand acre park of forest, beaches, cicling and running paths. With the beauty of the natural environment and the city's role as a haven for former hippies and counter-culture types, it is not too surprising that organisations such as Greenpeace sprang up here. But Vancouver is also the commercial and cultural heart of Canada's West Coast and a major convention and tourist destination.
What we like about Vancouver
  • Milder climate than other Canadian cities.
  • Lots of outdoor activities to try.
  • Incredibly beautiful city - famous for its urban planning.
  • Diverse city, with heaps of restaurant options.
What we dislike about Vancouver
  • High crime rate.
  • Overall an expensive city to stay.

Q&A - Questions and answers about Vancouver

  • The schools we work with in Vancouver specialise exclusively in English courses. Vancouver is a wonderful city to learn English and we would be happy to help you with that. However, if your main interest is in learning French in Canada, we recommend that you consider schools in Quebec or Montreal, as these cities offer a wide range of options for studying French.

As for your age, I assure you that it is not an impediment. The schools welcome students of all ages and I firmly believe that it is never too late to learn something new. To give you an idea, the average age of students is around 25.

Regarding the visa, although we do not directly manage the visa process, the school you choose in Canada will provide you with all the necessary documentation once you have completed the full payment of your booking. This documentation will help you to apply for your student visa.

    Ana Carolina Dos Santos, LanguageCourse.Net - Aug 07, 2023
  • No, unfortunately this is not possible, as the schools themselves are responsible for arranging accommodation for their students. That is why a school cannot offer you accommodation if you do not also book a course with them.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 19, 2023
  • When you book your course, it's possible to pay a pre-payment through our platform, but it's not possible to pay the full amount. The remaining balance will have to be paid to the school directly, according to the instructions on your invoice.
    Ana Carolina Dos Santos, LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 14, 2023
  • You will pay the accommodation fee together with the remaining balance of your course fees, all of which will be paid to the school, not to the host family. The confirmation email that you will receive once your booking is confirmed will explain when and how to make this payment.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 17, 2023
  • In Vancouver, the school has different options for Academic Preparation/Pathway Programs. The programmes prepare students for higher education study and focus on the needs of each student and their educational goals. Let us know what your preferred dates and course duration are and we can you send detailed information.
