This is the standard option among HLI’s home tuition programmes and involves allowing the student the chance to live with their French teacher in the teacher’s home located in Marseille. This is the second-largest city in France after Paris, and it’s here that you will evolve your language skills through 15 weekly private classes - entirely tailored to your academic, personal, and professional needs.

Marseille is an ancient city dating back centuries, even though it’s not easy to see since many of the remains were never preserved. This city is one of the most diverse in France, so that means you can easily meet people from all walks of life, and also have access to an abundance of ethnic food stores, in addition to the exceptional food that France is so famous for. You will also find a wealth of cathedrals and museums to discover, as well as scenic spots such as the Vieux-Port and coastal walking paths.

Your host family will prepare your three daily meals for you, meaning that you can simply concentrate on immersing yourself in Marseille by putting your French to immediate practical use.

Throughout the programme, you will quickly develop your French language communication skills across a range of real-life contexts. You will take a total of four lessons every day, with one half being devoted to vocabulary building, grammar, and pronunciation, and the other half focusing on the traditional four pillars of language acquisition listening, reading, speaking and writing.

This programme makes use of a course book in order to provide a clear and easy-to-follow curriculum, and will be supplemented by dynamic activities that get you involved with your classmates. You will agree on the topics that you would like to study with your teacher before you start this home tuition course, in which you live for a period of time in your teacher’s home in Nice, France. As you will be able to speak in French with your teacher and their family even outside of class time, your speaking skills will develop faster.

This course combines learning with free time in order to enjoy the beautiful city of Nice. The style of teaching is studying grammar and having discussions, focusing on the core components of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
The minimum duration for this course is 2 weeks.

The goal of LSF’s Standard French course is to equip students with the tools they need to expand their knowledge and skills across a broad range of areas, including: listening comprehension, oral expression, reading comprehension, and writing.

A constant theme throughout the course will be using aspects of French culture to supplement the learning that takes place in the classroom, such as topics related to current affairs, social norms, and debates about any range of subjects.

There is constant monitoring of your progress, as participants are expected to take a test every week to closely measure your progress - and to highlight any strengths and weaknesses you might have in your work.

On Mondays, the lessons take place from 13:30 to 15:30. On Tuesday to Friday, lessons run from 9:00 to 12:30.

Lessons place an emphasis on communicating in French and classes focus on grammar and vocabulary and practice written and oral comprehension. Classes are either in the morning OR in the afternoon.

This course includes 10 hours of group lessons plus 5 hours of clubs per week.
