Standard French Course 20 lessons per week (15 hours):
- A2-B1 classes focused on learning the fundamental linguistic aspects: reading, writing, understanding, with a special attention to oral expression and phonetics. Students with lower or higher level of French will be placed in our adult courses according to their French languages skills.
- The topics covered (daily life, leisure and sports, news, fashion, environment, etc.) and the pace of the activities will be adapted to the young people, their interests and concentration capacity.
- Classes will be held through dynamic and motivating workshops during which teenagers will work on grammar and conversation while improving their knowledge of French culture.
At Accent Français, we are experts in teaching French as a foreign language for more than 25 years and we will offer you top quality courses. Our classes are held by native teachers who are graduated with a Master FLE and experienced. They are held 100% in French and 100% face-to-face for a full immersion in the sunny South of France.
In the programme, the course material is included and will be provided by the teachers. We invite you to bring your own items to take notes such as a notebook and pens, a tablet or a laptop. Les ateliers FL Biarritz offer a language & sports stay dedicated to juniors aged 15 and 17 in total immersion into the French culture. Students have French classes and surf sessions during the day.
The duration of the program is 1 week minimum. Arrival is on Sunday after 1 p.m., and departure is on Saturday before noon.
French lessons take place Monday to Friday. The juniors are divided into groups of levels of up to 14 learners. The written and oral tests are done on the first day of classes. On Monday, a meeting is organized to introduce staff members, hand over schedules and divide students into groups.
Surf lessons
A swim test will be held at the beginning of the stay. All participants in the junior program in Biarritz must know how to swim.
Surf lessons will be held 4 times a week for 1.5 hrs. They take place on a suitable beach with changing rooms and hot showers. Schedules may vary depending on the tides and weather conditions. In case of bad conditions that would make surfing impossible, cancelled sessions will be postponed by the provider or replaced by sport activities.

**Course description**
The DELF / DALF exam preparation course for teenagers gives you the chance to practice intensively for all parts of the DELF and DALF exams. It complements everything you learn during the standard French course by giving you tips and techniques for methods needed to sit the exam. The standard French course provides the foundations for improving your general French, for example, grammar, lexical skills and phonetics. You also get to familiarize yourself with French culture and customs. French language immersion helps you to progress and gives you the confidence you need to speak.
The standard French course is organized around the 4 skills recommended by the CEFRL (Common European Framework of reference for languages): writing and speaking as well as reading and listening comprehension. During the DELF / DALF exam preparation courses for teens, you will be able to evaluate your own level and prepare effectively for the exam. You will be guided by a qualified teacher who will be able to advise you and help you practice as much as possible. There is a right balance between method and practice.
To practice for the DELF and DALF exam, even after school at home, the French school in Montpellier uses specialized manuals with exercises and corrections to help you prepare for the DELF / DALF exams. You will sit 2 mock exams so as to put yourself in real exam conditions; one will be at the beginning and the other at the end of the French course so that you will be able to see the progress you have made. IH Biarritz offers a linguistic and sport program dedicated to the juniors from 15 to 17 years old, in full immersion into the French culture.
The accommodation is on a full basis in a host family, with twin bedroom.
COURSE
The French course takes place from Monday to Friday in adapted classrooms. The students will follow 20 French lessons per week, in a class with maximum 14 students.
This program will bring together students from all over Europe, with the objective of learning French in an academic and secure environment.
At the beginning of the stay, a swim test and a meeting are organized to intriduce the staff members and to distribute timetable and group.
ACTIVITIES
Surf lessons:
- 4 sessions of 1 hour 30 - schedules may vary depending on weather conditions and tides.
- The sessions are taught by a professional provider who has been working with IH for several years.
- Group of 8 students maximum.
- All levels are accepteed groups are tailored to the levels and needs of participants.
- A swim test is performed at the beginning of your stay on an adapted place.
- The material is provided by the surf school. Lessons take place on a suitable beach.
Animations:
- Social and cultural activities: 2 events per week, on Wednesday afternoon and Saturday, to allow students to practice French together (football tournaments, beach volley competitions, quizzes, treasure hunts...).
- Friday evening is organized by IH to promote exchanges between students. The other evenings are free, within the host family for total immersion.
SUPERVISION
A group leader organizes the activity program and supervizes students. The studnet per staff ratio is 1 for 12.
The school also requests a medical certificate or signed statement from parents for each students (medical history, allergies and any other recommendations). For insurance and security reasons, the curfew is set at 11.00 pm on weekdays and at 1am on Friday and Saturday nights.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation between host families and the course location is by public transport. Price not included in the program.
TRANSFERS
Transfers are included from Biarritz Airport or train station. A member of IH team of the host family will pick up the student on arrival and accompany him/her on the day of departure. The details of the trip must be confirmed 15 days before the arrival of the student at the latest.
ACCOMMODATION
Staying with a host family is a unique intercultural experience that IH highly recommends to all students. You will share unique moments of daily life with your family, practicing your French in real situations.
All host families are carefully selected by the IH team and live maximum 30 minutes by public transport from the school. Each family hosts one or more students with a different mother tongue when possible, in a twin bedroom.
Breakfasts and dinners will be taken with the host families. Packed lunches will be provided for outdoor lunches.
