I felt very comfortable in this language school. Small class sizes, different levels, very friendly and open-minded teachers. The teachers rotate so that I also had the pleasure of being taught by different teachers. Everyone has their own methods and approach. I not only learned English there, but also a lot about the country and its people and this has not been limited to Ireland. The classes are mixed differently: different backgrounds, different cultures, different mother tongues. Through the group work, you have the opportunity to learn about all these, to get into conversation and make friends at the same time. The school itself offers various leisure activities and additional hours. Bus tours can also be booked and paid for at the school.
Insider tip: Book market "Charly Brown", bus tours, pub Quays with fantastic music and great atmosphere.

Quality of teaching / language progress: Small classes; no frontal teaching, but active teaching, in which the student is encouraged and challenged through diverse group work; constructive feedback.

Our two teachers were enthusiastic. They deserve great praise for their perseverance and the ability to understand "our" wide variety of accents ;-) Versatile lessons with various tools.... funny, informative, certainly "challenging", never boring. The "free lessons" were also very informative, some really excellent and sometimes more "useful" for knowledge building than the actual lessons.

Other comments Sometimes the knowledge level of the participants in a group differs strongly. At the admission interview, it should be spoken more about the individual's desires, aspired goals etc. The written categorization test isn't really meaningful.

The small class size. I attended classes in February/March and the average class size was about five or six students, especially the classes in the afternoon were characterized by a very small amount of students taking part in the class.

Very few inclusive and socializing activities. Only one in two weeks. Very high prices for individual tuition. I was disappointed by the school that I was not notified that the day was closed for a holiday that fell on my first day of school. I found out by accident and luckily I asked, otherwise I would have gone to the school and found no one. And then they also could have given me back the money for the day that I paid for and didn't do.

Being a small school, the relationship between pupils and teachers and pupils and pupils turns out into a strong friendship.
Insider tip: Galway is a beautiful town and, in my opinion, it makes sense to go for three months or more, as I did, because the Irish air needs to be slowly breathed. The locals are fantastic and you feel good. You should visit very well Ireland, which is wonderful and the best thing for guys, who want to spend a whole year, (which I recommend) is to book few month in the family and then find an accommodation in ans apartment on the spot, or for the luckiest, even a job because it's much nicer not to stay in a family.

Other comments The school provides a good service, it's raising up again after a "sad" fall occurred a little ago and it's doing that really well. The Irish are very nice and the school staff super helpful

The afternoon lessons were in groups with varying levels of English, which was sometimes difficult when doing exercises in pairs and groups. But this was not a big problem. I understand that this was due to organisational reasons.
Insider tip: It is a good idea to find accommodation close to the school and the old part of the city.

Quality of teaching / language progress: The course was great and a lot of fun. For me personally, the part in the morning was more relevant, as knowledge was refreshed again during this time (prepositions etc.). Therefore, if I were to do a course again, I would rather stay a week longer and only take the morning classes.

Students requiring a student visa must:

  • Have adequate medical insurance to cover their stay in Ireland. The policy must be in English. The school can arrange medical insurance before a student arrives

  • Open a bank account in Ireland and have evidence of more than EUR 3000 balance. The school can help students to open an account on arrival (please bring proof of funds from your home bank with you to Ireland).

While there is no policy that students must buy their course book through the school, they must have the correct course books with them when going to class. If not, they will not be allowed to enter the class which will affect their attendance negatively. There is a Student Noticeboard located in the school where students can buy and sell course books.

Individual classes
Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 60 €. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.
