Location: In the north of London, in the suburb of Highgate is St Giles International. It is centrally located within the borough, close to the Queens Park and the main central high street. The school is on a residential street, but a short walk brings students to the shops, restaurants and bars in the area.

Getting around: It is a 5-minute walk to the Highgate Tube Station. This is part of the Northern Line, which goes all the way to the centre of the city and down south past Clapham. It takes about 25 minutes by the underground to get to the very centre of London.

Local attractions: Highgate is a very green area, with lots of parks and walks to enjoy. The school backs on to Queens Park, and Waterlow Park is 17 minutes by foot from the school. Hampstead Heath is a 26-minute walk from St Giles International, or 19 minutes by bus. Here students can visit the Kenwood Manor House and enjoy views over London on Parliament Hill. The main attractions in central London can all be reached by using the public transportation links in the area.

Course structure: The school has adult group general English courses, combination packages, private lessons, exam preparation courses, English courses for teachers and Business English programmes.

Junior programmes: During the summer months the school is open to junior students with packages for students to stay in the residence or at a homestay.

I liked the business lessons (I've chosen this course purposely to study Business English that's why it was the most interesting for me). Then I decided to try private lessons and was lucky that Sally found Sheila for me. Her lessons were very useful! What especially amazed me was that the staff and teachers were really willing to help with any problem. They listened and heard their students. I appreciated that very much!
Insider tip: As for tips for students: Do not be afraid of asking questions and to speak more even if it's difficult at the beginning. Respect teachers and each other and everything will be perfect!

Quality of teaching / language progress: Best of the best, I really love all teachers and staff, they are kind, friendly, ready to help and excellent professionals! I'm grateful for all help and support, all of them really care about their students!
Other comments Great school. I've already recommended it to two ladies I know.

Great location near tube station, beautiful old building, friendly staff, small groups. I really enjoyed the afternoon activities: bowling, pub nights, theatre and museum.
Disliked
I was looking for the school with students of my age group (around 30), but there were too many very young students. Our classroom was a small attic room with slanted walls and I hit support structure with my head two times. In my opinion there was not enough space for all students. Many times some disturbing noises came from other rooms.
Insider tip: Ask about age of students before you go. It can change depending on season.

Teachers' punctuality, preparation of some teachers for lessons
Disliked
The school did not offer me a course at a higher level. I started at level C1 and finished at this level, so I conclude that I wasted my time and money.
Review details
Quality of teaching / language progress: I am disappointed, embittered and deceived by the fact that the school did not offer me a C2 course, I qualified for C1 on the basis of a test and finished the course at this level, which means that the course gave me nothing but a waste of my time and a lot of money.
Other comments Could the school verify my level of knowledge again based on the teachers' observation of me and my participation in class, can I expect any compensation from the school?

Distance of accommodation from school - over 60 minutes one way, Afternoon classes with the same teacher, no individualised approach to the student.
Review details
Quality of teaching / language progress: The group was too big, too little teacher control over student work. I wanted to be in a different group to my sister, and I was together with her, even though I asked for it.
Other comments Lack of response to negative comments and request for change regarding accommodation.
