How our students rated their experience in Cannes
What our students said about Cannes
It is absolutely wonderful. So many of the amenities of a big city, yet in a seaside town. I as never short of activities, from the film festival, to suddenly some of the world's biggest musical stars were playing on the beach! It was simply wonderful. In Cannes I experienced the best six weeks of my life. It isn't the cheapest and don't leave your valuable on the beach when swimming, (even if it's dawn and no-one appears to be around). But personal safety was always good and the college has really tight security. Face scans and no entry to the campus outside of class hours for those who are not living there. If you're thinking of going to Cannes as an 18 year old like me, to start the route to independence, it couldn't be more perfect. Just the right amount of safety, but also some real world exposure. Other people who were older also seemed to really enjoy it as well.
Cannes is a beautiful city. However, the climate, especially the weather in summer, is very exhausting. The air quality is also very poor.

I liked the fact that the school was within walking distance. We were greeted very nicely by the teacher Alan.

The teacher was very good! He managed to teach students with different language levels at the same time without it getting boring and so that everyone could learn from each other.

I left the course and stay at the Collège International de Cannes early because it did not meet my expectations in any way. The impression that results from previous comments no longer finds any correspondence in reality. It could be a beautiful place and an inspiring school - but those days are definitely over. We were told that there was a change in ownership and management. As a result, there is a lack of communication, organization, leadership and responsibility at all levels. There was no greeting for arriving course participants, no information about the college and organizational processes, no leisure activities. There was a lack of free access to materials and learning aids (library, computer). Classes seemed disorganized and random. The participants were not divided according to their language level, there were underwhelmed and overwhelmed fellow students in the courses I attended. Although I arrived at B1, I was assigned a B2 class. Participants from A0 to B2 came together in the "conversation course" - it remained a mystery how successful learning could be achieved under these conditions.
The teacher spent a lot of class time complaining about the difficult situation at the college or discussing organizational problems that arose. Targeted work was neglected as a result. Her teaching methods seemed outdated and not very motivating: Frontal teaching, written individual work, question and answer sessions in which everyone was allowed to say something, grammar, dictation.
I missed the use of videos or audio samples, playful elements and actual conversation.
Having booked an intensive course at this school proved to be an expensive mistake. Of the 21 hours booked per week, only 16 were held (note: public holidays). The value for money is not correct at all. It's exorbitantly overpriced for what's on offer.
There were relatively few participants in the language courses, the majority of whom were teenagers and young adults. There were hardly any older course participants and therefore the contact possibilities for me were rather limited.
