The location and building of the school and the atmosphere within the school were excellent. I was placed in exactly the right course and the lessons in the first week with my teacher Cinta were perfect for me. I was challenged but not overwhelmed. The excursions offered by the school were great and led by friendly and competent guides. It was also great that the school's population was very diverse, both in terms of nationalities and age structure.
Disliked
It was a pity that I got another teacher in the second week, who was also nice, but whose teaching style did not appeal to me. It was probably not possible to organise it any other way. It would still be great to have only one teacher for a short stay of only 2 weeks... Once, the yoga class I had registered for was cancelled and everyone except me was informed in advance. Unfortunately, there was no alternative date. Some of the classrooms were a bit cramped. But all in all, that's complaining at a high level. I was very satisfied with the school!
Insider tip: Join the excursions on offer!

I liked everything about it: our lovely teacher Patricia very interestingly leading the classes. Andrea who was our guide in Triana and Cordoba, gave us a lot of information and, importantly, at a pace adapted to older people. I also really liked Albert and Javier. Sympathetic and caring . I felt like I was among close friends. It was a very interesting 2 weeks and I didn't feel like leaving at all.
Disliked
I liked everything.

It was good to be able to study with people of various nationalities, and it was nice that the teacher also took care of me so that I could understand him well even though he was teaching in Spanish. After-school activities are conducted only in Spanish and it was participated with all group so I didn't participate much but it was good to see that there were many fun activities.
Disliked
I took the course for 3 weeks. During this time the teacher changed 3 times, so there were many cases where they did not know the progress of the class. The regular class was 20 hours but I took 25 hour class. So there were supplementary classes and in this classes, teachers changed more than 3 times as well. Because of this, class was not going smoothly at all.

Every professor that I have experienced in my two trips has been outstanding and could easily teach at University level. The programme is by far the best language learning programme/school out there. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to study a language.
Disliked
A returning student may find that the cultural programme is a bit repetitive, though still a great programme overall.

Very good organization of administration, always available for questions. very central school location, at least one activity/excursion per day at fair price. Friendly teachers, my skills improved well during my stay.
Disliked
A bit to much focus on "just talking" in Spanish in my point of view, especially in partner/group work without direct feedback on errors by the teacher. Also, content between morning and afternoon class could have been more related. I would have wished for more rehearsal exercises to foster the content from the morning (there are lots of exercises in the Aula book we could have done together). Also, sometimes the explanations on the grammar could have been more precise and on point. I know for a native speaker a lot of formulations simply "feel correct" but a non-native speaker needs some guidance on the existing "rules" from a trained language teacher. ;) But this are just some minor remarks, overall quality was good :)

I think my level of Spanish would have deserved to be in a higher level class, so I don't think I made as much progress as I'd hoped. I could have changed the group I was in, but I didn't, because I liked the group of students and the teachers. But it did give me time to revise.

Family accommodation - My family consisted of a woman who was only present to prepare a mostly disappointing lunch or dinner that she didn't eat herself. Breakfast consisted of toast with margarine, which I had to ‘prepare’ myself. She crammed up to 5 students into her flat, one in a tiny room, another in her own bedroom which was full of her things. She didn't respect our privacy and went into our rooms when we weren't there. She let her son, who no longer lived there, have a party while she was away. When we confronted her, the school said this was perfectly fine for family accommodation. I would not recommend choosing family accommodation there.

The class assigned to me by the level test was a little too advanced. Therefore, I had my class changed twice.
Insider tip: I really recommend CLIC. Especially in Seville, there are many cultural activities and I think you can study many different parts of Spain. The film program was a bit challenging for me, but I was able to learn about Spain from a different angle. I was very lucky to go to a flamenco tablao ( a less touristy and high-quality place).

Quality of teaching / language progress: I am old enough to be in the senior course, but I chose the regular course. The pace of the course is probably faster than the senior course, but being surrounded by young people gave me a lot of energy and made me keep up the good work. On the last day of the course, I received a certificate of completion and a score report. I was very happy. All my hard work was worth it.

FAQ about clic International House, Sevilla

  • This school has an individual approach to each student and a good and attentive attitude. All of their teachers are certified specialists in Spanish as a foreign language and, although they are Spanish by birth, they all speak fluent English in case of misunderstandings. Their classes are structured so that students study intensively from Monday to Thursday, and on Fridays they have more creative and interactive activities, either a shared conversation class, an interesting outdoor activity, cooking together in a shared kitchen and so on. This school also runs after-school activities 2-3 times a week such as city walks, museums etc.
