CILS Exam Preparation
This private course prepares students for the CILS exam and starts 4 weeks before the exam date.
The preparation course for the CILS certification is designed for those who need a recognised official certification, whether for study, work, or to apply for the Italian citizenship, or for the long-term residence permit.
The CILS certification is useful either to access university courses and to enter the Italian world of work. It is a fundamental requirement for those who wish to apply for Italian citizenship and for the issuance of long-term residence permits. Furthermore it can also be a valid option for those who simply want to test their knowledge of the language to achieve an important objective.
The CILS certification is issued by the University for Foreigners of Siena and italianme is an officially recognised and authorised school as an examination center. Therefore, at their school, you can both prepare for the exam and take the exam.
The certification is divided into several levels, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for languages: level A1, A2 and A2 integration (basic learner), B1, B1 citizenship and B2 (independent or autonomous student), C1 and C2 (competent student). The exam corresponding to each level, evaluates the four basic skills: read, write, speak and listen. Therefore, those interested in taking the exam should be sure, before registering, that they have the skills related to the chosen exam level and then take a specific test preparation programme.
The italianme school helps students in these two steps choosing the correct exam and planning the best programme to obtain the best result.
If your level of knowledge of the Italian language is adequate for taking the exam, you can simply attend the preparation course for the CILS certification, the details of which can be found on the school's website. If, on the other hand, your knowledge of the language is not yet at the appropriate level to take the exam, the school recommends that you first attend a suitable Italian language course to achieve the necessary knowledge. The duration can vary, as it depends on your current level and final objective. Once you reach the correct level, you can prepare specifically for the exam by following this preparation course for the CILS certification.
The lessons are structured to help students become familiar with the exam tests, focusing on strengthening the four skills: reading, writing, speaking, listening. The student, under the guidance of an expert teacher, will be able to identify the areas of greatest weakness to dedicate themselves to them and better prepare to pass the exam. Through careful, personalised and professional work, the exam preparation can become a guarantee of success.
The certification exam preparation classes take place either in small groups or privately. Programming is flexible and tailored to the needs of the students.
If your objective is to obtain a certification of knowledge of the Italian language, italianme offers you the necessary advice and the most suitable course to take on the exam.

Scuola Leonardo da Vinci organizes specific courses aimed toward those who want to obtain the CILS certification. Those courses are held during the weeks immediately prior to the exam dates established by the Università per Stranieri di Siena and aim to provide thorough preparation with regard to the different skills required. The preparation, on one end, analyzes and tests the evidence of previous examinations, while also carrying out specific problems that the teacher may identify.
Analysis and testing of the examination: First, the student is given a comprehensive overview of the various sections that make up the exam. The teacher then introduces the individual tests illustrating their nature, main characteristics and assessment criteria used at the time of correction. It then goes on to the practice during which students face the tests, first without the time constraints imposed by the true examination, then trying to stay within those limits.
Insight: Thanks to testing corrections, there are continuously assessed aspects that the student should compile and utilize in proposed reinforcement activities. The teacher identifies, from time to time, critical points and specific difficulties, and program revisions targeted through certain topics through theoretical explanations and educational activities.

The CILS certification is the first Italian certification to have adopted the system of six levels of linguistic-communicative competence proposed by the Common European Framework of Reference of the Council of Europe, and to have created specific modules for workers of foreign origin in Italy. This certification is therefore an officially recognized qualification that certifies the degree of linguistic-communicative competence in Italian (L2).

The CILS (certificazione di italiano come lingua straniera) certificate is an official qualification that assesses linguistic-communicative ability in Italian as a foreign language. The CILS system is the first in Italy to have created an assessment method specifically for foreigners working in Italy, following guidelines laid out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: the European standard for evaluating linguistic competence.
All foreigners and any Italian citizens living abroad can take the CILS examination. It is not necessary to have first successfully completed a CILS examination at a lower level before proceeding to a higher level. Each candidate is encouraged to prepare for the CILS examination in the way that best suits their needs.
You do not need to hold any prior degree or certification to obtain a CILS certificate, you are just expected to possess Italian knowledge appropriate to the level of CILS selected. You must have good general cognitive abilities, adequate linguistic abilities in your own language and familiarity with the Latin alphabet. CILS exams require basic knowledge of European culture and society and of Italy’s geographic, historical and cultural framework.
