Location: The Discover Summer Programme is in Winchester School, a boarding school right in the heart of Winchester, a 10-minute walk from the city centre. The school was founded in 1382, and is one of the oldest private schools in the UK. It resides just outside the city walls, a 20-minute walk from the central train station. All the city attractions are within walking distance of the school.
Pre-University Programme: This junior programme is focused on those who want to go to University. It is a challenging syllabus which is divided into academic workshops, an end of week presentation and a major and minor subject that students will work on per week. Staff are on hand to discuss university and career pathways with the students. The objective of the lessons is to improve student’s critical thinking and use of the English language in complex subjects.
Accommodation: Students will stay at the school’s historical residence accommodation. Rooms have one to six beds, and bathroom facilities are shared. Full board meals will take place in the school's very own 14th century hall.
English Student Hosts: The school has a staff of local students, who join the team for around two weeks and help the students at Discover Summer. This is an excellent opportunity for the students to practise their English with locals and make new friends. They wear blue t-shirts and will accompany the students throughout the stay, and even share accommodation with them.
