Location: CIAL Centro de Linguas Faro is located in the capital city of Portugal's Algarve region, Faro. The historic city of Faro offers students much to see and do, with CIAL Faro not far from the action. The school is housed in the heart of the city centre, a stone's throw from the central market, the waterfront and many of the city's attractions. Such attractions within walking distance of the school include the Municipal Museum of Faro, the Algarve Life Sciences Centre, the Arco da Vila, the Faro Marina and much more.

Course selection: CIAL Faro offers a wide range of Portuguese courses, with something suitable for students of all levels. In addition to General Portuguese, available over several schedules and intensities, the school also provides combination programmes of Portuguese with specific subjects and activities such as professional internships, volunteering and surfing. Teacher Training programmes are also available at various times throughout the year. One-to-one or two-to-one tuition is also readily available for students that require Portuguese for specific purposes.

Getting around: The school is very central to the city and offers many amenities, shops, eateries, restaurants and attractions within walking distance. The golden beaches and hiking trails surrounding Faro are often main attractions of the area. Many such sites can be reached via bus but having access to private transport would make seeing the coastal sites easier.

“Cial uses one approach in their teaching, so you can switch schools without falling behind in the course. The teacher was good and very knowledgeable and kept our individual learning needs in mind. The school does her utmost best to help you out.”

Trains and busses are a good way of transportation, just keep in mind that they don't leave every single hour of the day. Great food and drink options available. ”

Other comments They go pretty slow through the course materials. Just 3 chapters a week, everything will explained up to six times and I had to read the same course materials 2 or 3 times in class. The are pretty much on the clock. Not a minute overtime during the classes. A big difference with Fast Forward in Porto. If you have the basic knowledge and are keen to learn grammar, then Cial's teaching is pretty slow.

Other comments There are 4 classrooms and a nice yard. At each level there were not more than 3 students, even in August. It seems Faro is less crowdy than most of other places. For some partypeople may be a bit slow, but perfect for combining study and leisure. My teacher prefered to teach less grammatical issues and the focus was always on speaking, listening and comprehension. The book was excellent. You can take your own copy home. If you like they will sell you a exercise book and grammar book for the same price as the local bookstore.

Airport transfer for two students traveling together: EUR 55 (one way).

Only the group lessons of 25th December are not recovered.

Individual classes
Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 39 €. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.
