Q&A - Questions about English courses and schools in USA

  • The courses usually do not have an exam at the end. There are special exam preparation courses where via the schools
you can then register for exams. However, the schools usually issue a certificate of attendance with the level achieved in the course.
    Martin Zakostelecky, LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 12, 2024
  • We do not have a filter to classify schools by size.
However, you will find the information for each school in their description: when you look at the list of schools, it is right below the school name.
    Melanie Besnard, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 07, 2024

    Ana Carolina Dos Santos, LanguageCourse.Net - Aug 28, 2023
  • Yes, at the time of writing, we have a partner school in Greensboro.
    Ana Carolina Dos Santos, LanguageCourse.Net - Aug 28, 2023
  • Of course you can! Age should never be an impediment.

The schools accept students of all adult age groups. This means that you will be with other international students, older or younger than you. Groups are organised according to language level, not age, although in high season, if there is more than one group of the same level, the age of the students will also be taken into account. To give you an idea, the average age during the year is around 25-30 years old, while in summer it goes down to 20-25 years old. Please note that some schools have a higher or lower average age. You can find this information on the website, but you can always come to me.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 31, 2023
  • It's a difficult question to answer, but if you're looking for a fairly quiet destination in the United States, Irvine in California would seem to be a good option. The crime rate there is quite low. We have a partner school in Irvine: LASC - Language Scholastics Irvine, Los Angeles. You can find out more about the school in the detailed online profile.
    Madly Simba, LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 04, 2023
  • Yes, it is possible to change schools, however in this case, the deposit paid at the first school tends to be non-refundable, and the school has the final decision to refund or not the original fees.
    Carlos Eduardo, LanguageCourse.net - May 23, 2023
  • LSI San Diego offers a great summer programme for students between 12 and 17! The price includes 20 lessons, accommodation with a host family, full board and a super varied activity programme. Please contact us if we can send you more information!
    Lisa Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 29, 2023
  • It is possible to study for 2 months holding a tourist visa, however, the course must have a maximum of 18 hours of lessons per week.
    Ana Carolina Dos Santos, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 26, 2023
  • If you wish to change your status while you are in the United States, you will need to file an application with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on the appropriate form before your authorised stay expires.

However, visa regulations are quite tricky and change constantly, so it is best to always contact the embassy or consulate of the country you will be visiting in your home country.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 17, 2023
  • You can use the course finder on our website to see what options we can offer you in the different cities in the United States that we work with.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 15, 2023
  • As you will need to apply for an F-1 student visa, you will need to pay for everything - the cost of those 30 weeks - as soon as possible in order to receive the necessary documents in time for you to be able to apply for the visa.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 23, 2023
  • In North Carolina, at the time of writing, we don't have any partner schools. The nearest options would be in Washington, Boston, or New York.
    Ana Carolina Dos Santos, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 16, 2022
  • Yes, the American accent changes depending on the part of the country the speaker is from. Many American English teachers aim to keep their accent neutral during classes.
    Gosia Mazur, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 16, 2022
  • We work with several destinations in the USA, but if the weather is important to you, I recommend that you take a look at the following destinations: Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Diego and Fort Lauderdale.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 29, 2022
  • Most of the courses that we offer are for in-person tuition at a school's location. Simply click on the USA option under the English header on our landing page to see the schools that we have available to you in the USA.
    Fraser Provan , LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 25, 2022

    Fraser Provan, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 14, 2022
  • Currently there are no language schools affiliated with us in the Worcester area. Are you considering taking online classes? In this case, we can find and guide you to an online class that fits your options.
    Mindlere Shin, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 03, 2022
  • On our homepage, choose the language you wish to learn and the destination where you would like to study. You will have the option of choosing a particular city too and will find from there all the information regarding our available partner schools in your chosen destination. Our experienced agents are always happy to help with any further questions that may arise.
    Fraser Provan, LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 19, 2022
  • The students can organize their accommodation, and it's not mandatory to book one of the options offered by a school. The fees are calculated separately, and there are no discounts on tuition for students who already have a place to stay at their destination.
    Ana Carolina, LanguageCourse.net - Aug 22, 2022
  • There are multiple cities in the USA where you can land on a direct flight, such as New York, Miami or Chicago. However, due to geographical proximity, cultural similarities, climate and also direct flight connections, the best cities to study English in the USA, if you are Mexican, are Los Angeles, San Diego and El Paso.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions about English courses in USA

  • In most schools the age of students reaches up to 75 years, in very rare cases we have even had students who are 80 years old. As a rule, schools do not set age limits. However, there are still some schools with age limits, but they are very few.
Maksym Sterpul, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 31, 2023
  • You can, of course, leave the country if the conditions of your visa allow you to do so. In any case, you will need to consult the Consulate that issued your visa.
Maksym Sterpul, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 31, 2023
  • We have the following 3 schools in the United States that offer summer camp programmes for children ages 6-9:

Susan Wang, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 28, 2023
  • We have several schools that offer the one-year course and you can find the information always on our website, however for such a long period of time we always recommend that you make contact with the embassy as soon as possible, so that you can get exact time and cost for the issuance of the study visa. In fact, the embassy only will be able to provide all the necessary information for applying for a long-term student visa.
Antonio Zoppo, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 19, 2022
  • If the I-20 document is still in active status, it can be transferred to a new school and extended.
Juliana Sparacino, Housing & Admissions Director from CEL College of English Language Santa Monica - Aug 05, 2022
  • The schools we work with offer a wide range of accommodations from homestays to single or shared rooms in apartments or residences. Obviously, if none of the offered options satisfy you, you can book only the course and look for accommodation on your own, without any problem.
    Rubén De Haro, from LanguageCourse.net - Jul 22, 2022
  • As off 15th July 2022 the regulation is if you want to change your status while in the United States, you (or in some cases your employer) must file a request with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on the appropriate form before your authorized stay expires.

IMPORTANT: You are not eligible for a change of status in the United States if you entered as a visitor through the visa waiver program.

As regulations often change it is advisable to always check with the embassy.
Rubén De Haro, Area Manager - Spanish from LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 15, 2022
  • The students study all aspects of the language. Didactic is studying grammar and having discussions, focusing on the core components of reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Ana Carolina, Area Manager from LanguageCourse.net - Jun 13, 2022
  • The schools offer English programmes for those who have a residence permit or for those who are holding a tourist or student visa.
Ana Carolina, Area Manager from LanguageCourse.net - May 23, 2022
  • Any type of documentation you may need in order to apply for a student visa, will be provided by the school, not us. Keep in mind that in most cases, these documents will only be provided after having made the full payment of your booking.
Rubén De Haro, Area Manager - Spanish from LanguageCourse.net - Nov 05, 2021
  • Normally, in about 3-4 weeks you should have everything ready, but I recommend you to contact the US embassy in your country of origin first to obtain more information in this regard, as the waiting time and requirements may vary.
    Rubén De Haro, from LanguageCourse.Net - Sep 03, 2021
  • Visa requirements are delicate and can change very quickly, so it is always best to contact the embassy or consulate directly regarding these questions. If you need an invitation letter, we can often help to arrange this, provided the embassy has already given you a positive answer and you meet all the requirements.
Robin Rebecca Pietersma, Dutch Consultant from Languagecourse.net - Jul 05, 2021
