English Plus Activities for Teenagers (13 to 17 years old)
This course is available to all teenagers and is the only course available for teenagers who are not travelling with their parents. It consists of 15 hours of English in a group class per week plus 15 hours of activities in the afternoons and a Saturday day trip.
The curriculum tends to follow a communicative approach with teachers using a methodology that emphasises the use of role-play, situational dialogues, discussion and games to increase confidence and improve fluency. Reading and writing skills also play a part in helping the speaking as they generate and consolidate new vocabulary and grammar.
In order to reinforce the communicative and fun aspect of the programme, there is a performance at the end of the week during which each class sings a song or performs a role-play or sketch and awards are given for the best performance. Teenagers love this chance to compete with each other and show off their dancing, singing and/or acting skills.
Examples of the activities in the afternoon:
- Scavenger hunt around Killarney.
- Kayaking on Lough Leane.
- Gaelic football and Hurling.
- Capoeira.
- Ball Sports.
- Cycling around Muckross Lake.
- Jaunting car trip around town. There is also a day trip on Saturdays included in the price: trips to Cork, Limerick, Dingle and the Gap of Dunloe.
Standard Course for Children (3 to 12 years old)
This course takes place at the Kids Zone, an area at the back of the main building, specifically designed to hold the children's classes. Children would be separated by ages (3-5, 6-7, 8-12) and levels. The programme listed includes only the English lessons.
The children’s English language curriculum is designed to make the act of language learning both fun and stimulating for young learners. It combines the most up-to-date communicative language teaching methodology with role play, songs and games to ensure that children leave with a positive feeling about their learning experience in Killarney.
The teachers concentrate on encouraging communication. There is more focus on communication and creativity (drawings, songs, play etc.). Materials are taken from a whole range of diverse texts in order to tailor-make the course to each group of students.
5 different levels are available from Introduction to Pre Intermediate (pre-A1-B1).

Super Juniors (10 to 13 years old)
15 hours of traditional lessons are combined with 10 hours of activity-based learning (through arts, crafts, music, etc.) per week to create an age-appropriate and fun learning experience for the student.
Students aged 10-13 are required to choose a Fast Track (25 hours per week) programme. They receive 15 hours formal lessons and 10 hours crafts, games and other activity-based learning, as well as standard afternoon and weekend excursions.
Young Learner Excursions Focus (14 to 17 years old)
An ideal programme for students who want less formal tuition and more time spent discovering their country of study via cultural excursions. Courses include 10 hours tuition and 4 excursions per week (Monday - Friday).
For courses longer than 1 week in duration, a full-day excursion during the middle weekend is also included.
