Location: International House Oaxaca is located in the historic city of Oaxaca, Mexico. Housed in a 16th Century colonial building in the city centre, the school is close to several resturants, shops, gardens, art galleries and attractions such as the Andador Turístico, Zócalo Oaxaca, the Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the Mercado Benito Juárez, Plaza Santa Domingo and much more.

Course selection: IH Oaxaca provides various courses for learning Spanish, suitable to students of all levels and various necessities. In addition to General Spanish programmes, the school also provides lessons in Business Spanish, Medical Spanish, Mexican Cooking and Latin Dancing. There are also Discover Mexico programmes that allow students to discover the cultural wonders of Oaxaca whilst learning Spanish.

Getting around: The school is housed in downtown Oaxaca, with many of the city's main attractions within walking distance. One of the best ways to get around the city is therefore by foot, yet buses and taxis are also readily available, although they are not known for their efficiency.

Social and Cultural: IH Oaxaca provides several options for social activities, including dancing and cooking classes.

Accommodation: The school offers accommodation in Homestay, Student Residence, Furnished Apartments and On-site Apartments, catering to the needs of all students.

Additional information: Oaxaca city is unique in its surroundings, located amongst mountains and home to a vast amount of archaeological sites. The city has a rich culture, with over 16 different ethnicities.

“There were very few students. I was in a group of three that I fit in reasonably well, and there was also 1 and later 2 pp who were at a higher level, but that doesn't make it worthwhile to organize anything besides the lessons. There are just too many schools!!”

Generally course material has to be purchased by the student. The costs of course material will be approximately 60 US$ per course level.
Comments about courses

What is included in the Intensive course price:

  • Registration.
  • Level test.

    The week starting 03 Apr includes two public holidays, therefore this week will have a special price of USD 145.

    In case there is only one student at a given level in a given week, that student will take 10 private hours instead of the original 20 with no extra cost.
Individual classes
Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 30 US$. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.

Adults - Free activities

Monte Albán: In this activity we will take the bus that takes us to Monte Alban and returns, here we will visit the museum and later we will walk through the ruins.

The tule tree: To visit the tule tree we have two options, in the first we will rent a bicycle to be able to get to the town along the cycle path so you will have to wear comfortable clothes, sunscreen and bring water to hydrate yourself, since there are 20 kilometers in total in one flat surface. The second option is to take the local bus to get to the town.
