Reviews by former students who attended a Italian & Culture course in Milan

Scuola Leonardo da Vinci

Communication with staff prior to the course. Specially with Anna. Location of the school top. Accommodation arranged by the school was also great: good apartment in a working-class neighborhood 5 minutes from the metro.
Worth repeating!

Scuola Leonardo da Vinci

The best thing about the school was the other students, all very interesting young people.
The worst language school I have been to in Italy. The organisation was rubbish. I arrived at the designated time to do my level test, which took an hour out of my 3 hours of classes (that’s 4 lessons, each 45 minute lesson called ‘an hour’, by the way, although this was expected and usual for large cities...) only for the enrolment officer to decide that it was all unnecessary because in April I had been to the sister school in Florence. Waste of time. The maximum class size was 14 (which is already too large) and our group had 16 enrolled, apparently okay because not everyone came every day. Unacceptable. The facilities are not comfortable. There are no desks, instead those ‘chair/desks’ that you find in lecture theatres sometimes in universities. They are not well adapted to spending long periods writing, which unfortunately we did. I enrolled on the ‘Dolce Vita’ course so that I would have the opportunity to meet other mature students (I know that there are fewer at my level of Italian, as few persist to B2, let alone beyond). This course is a specific fortnight 3 or 4 times a year. There was a test on the first Thursday, a test of the end of the 6 week module that long term students had been studying! Another waste of time. But, worse, the test was marked in class, one by one with the student sitting next to the teacher! So we not only lost most of Thursday to the test, we also lost an hour on Friday! Why organise a fortnight of activities for people who are most likely studying for pleasure to coincide with a test week? Poor planning. Conclusion: If you are studying for pleasure or enrolling for a short time (less than a month), DON’T enrol in this school.

Scuola Leonardo da Vinci

You have a very good teacher in Alberto Carenini; you could write a book in pedagogy, by studing how he is teaching.
