Boston ratings & opinions
How our students rated their experience in Boston
What our students said about Boston
From a German perspective, everything was very expensive. We were glad that thanks to the summer programme some concerts were offered for free. We were always on the road with the bluebikes. Basic food is also very expensive. We hardly went shopping and did not eat out.
It is a very unusual city. There are a lot of different places to go, but for me it is not the most important thing. I liked people here - they are very friendly, they smile a lot, and they can help you if you ask.
The camp doesn't give much opportunity to learn about Boston.
Surely one of the most thriving cities in the northeast.
For students, this is the best environment to be in.

Q&A - Questions about English courses and schools in Boston
- I would like to take educational leave in Boston. Can I take a course and enter the country with ESTA approval?“Unfortunately, the courses for educational leave are almost always intensive courses with more than 18 hours per week. This is not compatible with ESTA approval. ”Julia Von Vopelius-Feldt, LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 16, 2023I want to learn English to take the TOEFL exam, but I have no knowledge of the language yet.“If you are a beginner, you can take a TOEFL preparation course when your level is already B2. In the meantime, you can book a General English course until you reach this level.
Please note that if your level is 0, there are specific starting dates for most schools.”Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 26, 2023I would like to know where you are located in Boston.“LanguageCourse.Net is an online agency, whose only physical location is in the centre of Barcelona, Spain.
”Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 27, 2023I would like to organise a trip/study in Boston for my 10-year-old son.“We can certainly recommend the Junior programmes, complete packages including course, campus/family accommodation, extra activities, excursions, etc. If you indicate the period and duration, we will be happy to check availability for you with one of our partner schools.”Antonio Zoppo, LanguageCourse.Net - Jan 20, 2023I would like to study English in Boston and at the same time work to earn a living.
“Visa regulations are quite tricky and are constantly changing, so it is best to always contact the embassy or consulate of the country you will be visiting in your home country.
As an international student in the U.S., you may be interested in finding work to supplement your finances. As an F-1 visa holder, like most international students in the U.S., you can work, but there are strict guidelines you must adhere to.
Most commonly, you are only allowed to work on the same campus as the school where you are studying. It does not require approval from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). However, you may find that on-campus employment is limited and you may not be paid very much. You may have to obtain permission from the school's International Student Office before accepting on-campus employment, and there is always the possibility that they may not be able to provide you with any work at all.
To work on campus, you must comply with several rules and regulations. You must maintain a valid F-1 status; you cannot displace (take a job from) a U.S. student; you can work up to 20 hours a week (part-time) or full-time (during holidays and vacation periods).”Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 21, 2022Are prices for courses and accommodations the same throughout the year? When do the prices change?“Prices are normally the same throughout the year (Jan-Dec). In the last months of the year (Oct-Dec), all prices for the following year are published. Each school decides separately when the current and new prices apply, this is clearly indicated on each school profile.
What is good to know is that with only a deposit you can confirm the price and your spot in the course, thus avoiding a price change. Please let us know if there are any questions about this.”Robin Rebecca Pietersma, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 07, 2022FAQ - Frequently asked questions about English courses in Boston
