What our students said about Sapporo
Nice city (even if there are 2 million people, which is hardly noticeable), Odori Park near the school invites you to linger, affordable (especially food, even people from Tokyo come to Sapporo for it), very good location for further excursions into nature, mountains, to Hokkaido. Few tourists and therefore a lot of Japanese is spoken. The biggest advantage is that it is much cooler than in Tokyo and much more pleasant! There are only very few ‘historical’ buildings (compared to Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo), as the city is quite young.
I spent most of my evenings with the host family and just went out a few times with other students to Izakaya, so I cannot really comment on nightlife. I did a few trips outside Sapporo. There was too little time to be able to give authoritative responses to the questions above, but overall I am happy to have come to Sapporo and intend to come here again!
I left my heart in Sapporo. It is a place where I would like to live. The only downside is that it is poorly connected to the rest of Japan and the areas outside Sapporo. Hokkaido is huge.
Weather ok now, really cold in winter and lots of snow! Sapporo itself is easy to explore, but after three weeks it is no longer sooo interesting in the city center.
not very "Japanese"... when compared to other cities. (at least in terms of architecture, history and cultural sites)
Very quiet city (although 2 million inhabitants)
Not really interesting after several stays.
Most recent student reviews of language schools in Sapporo
Having the opportunity to study Japanese in Japan for 3 months at a low price and with many cultural experiences attached is the greatest strength, combined with the helpfulness of the staff and teachers. In addition, I met so many valuable people.
They have been like a family.

JaLS was the best Japanese language school I have attended so far. Teachers are excellent, teaching is well structured, and class sizes small. The private lessons helped a lot to address my weaknesses. All students in my class were at my level. All was in Japanese, which greatly helped me to improve my communication skills. There were many interesting and enjoyable activities/excursions, so I made many new contacts. JaLS staff was very friendly and supportive.

Most everything, the infrastructure and the location are great! I also appreciated the flexibility when it came to last minute changes.

The good mix between learning and leisure. You learn a lot at school, but still have a lot of time for other things.
Very good school. You make friends very quickly. The cultural activities are sometimes a bit expensive for what you get on offer. And sometimes certain activities are badly organized (especially the free activities). But all in all, I had a great time at school.
