7 Italian General Courses for adults in Naples

General Italian courses run all year round with a programme divided into 6 levels, according to the CEFR Common European Framework, from beginner to advanced level (A1-C2). All the courses develop practical communication skills. Students from the age of 16 are accepted and the minimum period of attendance is one week.

The size of the classes is a maximum of 10 participants, meaning that your teacher will get to know your individual strengths and weaknesses as the course progresses and be able to help you with any language obstacle you may encounter.

The intensive course allows for quick improvement, even if you attend for just one week. From 9:00 to 11:00 h, new topics (grammar, vocabulary, idioms) are introduced. After a 10-minute break (11:00-11:10 h), the course focuses on speaking and communicative skills, including cultural information. Students are encouraged to use the grammar structures presented in the first part of the course.

If you ever considered moving to Italy to learn the language but perhaps feel that Rome would be too touristy and intense, then living with your teacher in Naples might be the alternative you were looking for. You will study on a schedule of 15 one-to-one lessons every week, which will improve your Reading and Writing skills in particular, while constant conversation opportunities with the host family will improve your Speaking and Listening abilities.

Having your host family on hand to consult about cultural matters in Italy will help you integrate more quickly, and they will also help you find your bearings as you settle into your life in Naples. One neighbourhood where you might want to start your explorations is Piazza Bellini or Vomero, where you will find trendy student bars and music venues.

Your hosts will provide you with three meals per day, as this is a full-board experience. If needed, HLI encourages prospective students to get in touch with their Local Organiser staff who also live in Naples, as they will be responsible for making sure that the home tuition programme is meeting all of your expectations.

In the case there are just 1 or 2 students for a course level, lessons provided for each study day will be reduced to 2 lessons lasting 55 minutes each, becoming individual classes.
