The northern French region of Hauts-de-France was formed in 2016 by merging the two regions Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardie. The region's northern border lies along with Belgium and it is here that the capital of the region, Lille, is found. In Lille, visitors often explore the Palais des Beaux Arts, La Piscine Museum and Lille Métropole Museum of Modern, Contemporary and Outsider Art. Hauts-de-France has a shoreline on the English Channel. Les Bourgeois de Calais, the Cap Gris-Nez and the Nausicaá - Centre national de la Mer are interesting attractions along the coast of the region. The South of the province is known for its grand châteaux's including Château de Chantilly and Château de Pierrefonds.
