Location: LSI in San Diego is located in the Bunkers Hills, an uptown part of the city. It is close to Balboa Park, which has a number of golf courses, museums and gardens. Little Italy is the neighbourhood next to Bunkers Hill. This is a pedestrian area, with small boutiques, music venues and cocktail bars. The centre of the city is a 13-minute walk from the school building.

Public transportation: The Santa Fe Depot Train Station is 20 minutes from the school. Students can catch the Pacific Surfliner from the station and travel along the coast of San Diego. There is a central tram system that runs around the GasLamp district and south, along the coast. The closest tram stop from the school is 13 minutes by foot. The silver, orange and silver lines both run through this station.

Main attractions: The attractions in San Diego are spread out throughout the city. Aside from the Balboa Park, the closest attractions, such as the USS Midway Museum are navigable by public transportation from the centre of the city. The things to do further afield, including the Cabrillo National Monument and La Jolla Cove, are easier to reach by car.

*Course structure: The school has general English courses, exam preparation courses in a range of popular English exams, private lessons, mini groups, afternoon classes, a pathway programme and Academic English. Business English courses teach students how to use specific English language used in the business environment, and LSI offers this as a course for students.

School facilities: The school has a student lounge, roof deck and a selection of computers that students can use for self-study. It also has a fridge and microwave for those that want to stay for the lunch break.

“- all teachers and the headmistress were very, very nice and competent and were able to enthuse the children for the lessons - the teaching methods were interactive, varied and modern - the children were encouraged to speak English in a playful way - the school is very centrally located directly on the No.5 freeway with parking spaces right outside the door - the rooms are spacious and modern with WIFI, lounges and a small kitchen”

“- the rooms were too air-conditioned, you had to come in long clothing even if it was 25 degrees outside (but this is apparently normal in the USA) - a bit more homework would have been good for personal progress - some other course participants did not take the rules seriously (were massively late every day, were very fixated on their phones, often got up and went out to buy snacks), which often disrupted the lessons. The teachers could be a bit stricter here.”
