Location: Derzhavin Institute is situated in the beautiful and culturally rich city of St.Petersburg, Russia. The school is located in the historic centre of St Petersburg, surrounded by schools, shops and supermarkets, on the banks of the Fontanka River. With excellent access to train and bus routes from the school, students can find many of the city's palaces, parks and attractions only a short train ride away.

Course selection: The school offers courses to students of all levels, starting from absolute beginners up to fully proficient. Students can take Standard Group courses in conjunction with additional Grammar or Speaking modules, according to their needs and preferences. Private lessons are available with Business Russian, Russian for the Tourism Industry and an Internship programme, also amongst the diverse programmes available at the Derzhavin Institute. TRKI Preparation courses are also available throughout the year.

Accommodation: Accommodation is readily available through the school with excellent options in Homestays with local families, Shared flats and in Studio Guest Houses provided all year round. Many options are within walking distance of the school, ensuring students are comfortable throughout their time in St.Petersburg.

Other comments Didn't get an immigration card at the airport or lost it (please point out to everyone that this is an important piece of paper for departure). I didn't realize I needed one. The school secretary went to the police personally twice to get a new one. That was great!

I also consider it essential that the differences in the case government of verbs and prepositions between the learner's mother tongue and the Russian language are highlighted. With regard to indirect speech and the conditionalis (the subjunctive), it is essential to point out the ambiguity and contextuality in Russian compared to the mother tongue. Here, too, translation exercises are important and helpful.”
