Location: Romanica is an Italian Language school located in Modena, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The school is housed in a beautiful 18th Century building with large spacious classrooms, surrounded by shops, cafés, eateries and with great communications by bus and train. Attractions such as the Enzo Ferrari Museum, Parco Giardino Ducale Estense, Galleria Estense and the Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti, are all within a 10-20 minute walk of the school's front doors.

Course selection: The school has a wide variety of courses for working professionals, as well as for students of all levels. Intensive, Semi-Intensive and Full-day programmes are readily available to students from complete beginners to advanced fluency. A selection of more private lessons (one-to-one, two-to-one, three-to-one) are also available, with Italian language courses for Workers & Caregivers, Training programmes for Teachers, Senior programmes and CILS/CELI Exam preparation courses, also available throughout the year. If you would prefer to take in some of the local cultures during your studies,
courses in conjunction with cooking and opera are also available.

Accommodation: Romainca school also has great options for accommodation in shared or private flats, along with Homestay options with local families.

Additional information: For any fans of sports cars, Modena is most likely one of the best places in the world, as the city is home to such famous sports cars manufacturers as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani and Maserati.

For me, there was too little structure in the conversation classes. There wasn't really a topic and there was so much joking around and palavering that you hardly noticed what the programme would actually have been.....

The lessons were great, I did a lot and learned a lot in the 2 weeks. You get to speak a lot and therefore practise a lot.
Disliked
I was a little sad that exactly in my 2 weeks there wasn't a tour of the "aceto" factory or cheese factory on the programme, but that was just a coincidence.

  • The Romanica school in Modena offers a semi intensive group course. This course consists of 10 lessons per week, which is divided into 2 hours of lessons per day from Monday to Friday. Students are able to choose between grammatical structure + vocabulary (from 9:00 to 11:00) or expression and conversation (from 11:00 to 13:00). Every 2 weeks students are able to change between the two grammar options, if required. These options are divided into 5 language levels so students will be with others of the same level. There is a maximum of 12 students in each class.
