Students will learn about the production of decorated paper sheets using the Florentine marbling technique.During the Marbled Paper course, you’ll be shown how to actually produce it, and then use it to amaze all your friends, young and old, creating gift paper, packaging, original coverings and decorations. In our course you’ll learn all the secrets of this ancient craft. It’s an elegant way of working, highly visual, and at the same time very relaxing to do, producing impressive aesthetic results: Paper Marbling. In marbled paper the different colors drip onto a very particular liquid, made gelatinous by a seaweed extract. The colors thus remain on the surface, without blending into each other, and thanks to the use of combs, rods and other tools, the spots take on more symmetrical forms, such as the well-known “peacock tail”, or designs similar to actual marble veins, which give their name to this technique. Students will learn to bind with canvas.This course can be for one or two students. With the basic bookbinding course you will be able to learn the history and practice of this discipline with the help of our expert craftsmen; from folding to finishing, you will immerse yourself in an ancient and suggestive art. Explore the ancient and evocative world of bookbinding; an elegant and precious art that only a few expert craftsmen practice and pass on. This course consists of 20 Italian lessons per week during the morning from Monday to Friday. Every afternoon there is a 2-3 hour long cultural visit to a museum, a guided tour or an artisan workshop. With the Italian and Art course you’ll explore the wonders of the city of Florence, learning the language while admiring the main artworks of the Italian Renaissance, through exciting and instructive trips to museums, galleries, artisan workshops, churches and historic buildings. Enter a well-equipped goldsmith’s workshop, and learn the art of setting gems, through demonstrations and exercises that will cover all the stages of metal setting, using semi-finished silver, and synthetic stones, predominantly high-quality cubic zirconia, offering a perfect imitation of actual precious stones.
