10 German General Courses for adults in Heidelberg

This course includes general German lessons and exam preparation lessons.

Students can book this course from one week. The duration of the course depends on the language level to be reached.

According to the European Framework of Reference for Languages, language students need around 160 school hours to complete a language level.

Students on this course can therefore reach a new language level within approximately six weeks.

In the course, the four language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) are learned, deepened and applied. From a language level of C1, this course can optionally be taken as an exam preparation course.

This course includes 20 German lessons and 10 English lessons per week.

Students can book this course for one week. The duration of the course depends on the language level to be reached.

This course includes 20 English lessons and 10 German lessons per week.

This programme groups together the English Intensive Course 20 (Standard English, from B2 optional Business English) in the morning with the German Module course 10 (In-depth tuition: TestDaF or telc C1 Hochschule or DSH preparation, C1 and above) in the afternoon.

To be able to complete a course level, you need:

• A1: 8 weeks
• A2: 8 weeks
• B1: 8 weeks
• B2: 9 weeks
• C1: 9 weeks

In addition to the 20 hours of face-to-face classes, you should also plan for 15 additional hours per week for homework, vocabulary, and presentation preparation.

By taking part in HLI’s home tuition programme in Heidelberg, you will develop your German language skills on a schedule of 15 hours per week. The lessons are on a one-to-one basis, and take place in your teacher’s home, where you will live in a single room.

Your host family will give you a tour of Heidelberg, which is home to numerous archaeological curiosities, including the ruins of Schloss Heidelberg, and the remains of the Thingstatte amphitheatre. Whether you practise a sport or keep up a hobby, your hosts will do their best to help you find places to enjoy your activities in Heidelberg.

Your daily meals are included in the full board plan and will be provided by the host family. All teachers working for HLI have the necessary teaching qualifications or a university degree related to education.
