General English Courses are available at all levels and are designed to meet the needs of learners in a variety of English language settings. Our aim is to increase your confidence and ability to use English in the real world.

The General English Course could be perfect if you want to:

• Improve your day-to-day use of English for educational, professional or personal reasons;

• Improve your level of English before, or at the same time as preparing for an exam; and

• Increase your range of grammar and vocabulary as well as your ability to communicate in English.

Course Content:

You will study a range of interesting topics and follow an integrated skills programme. This programme covers reading, writing, speaking and listening as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The aim is to help you so that you improve in all of these areas. You will use a course book and it will be provided to you at the start of your course.

HLI offers their home tuition experience in Cardiff, the charming capital of Wales. This option involves living with your private tutor in their home, where you will have your own room and take 15 hours of lessons every week that are based on any subject or area of grammar that you would like to focus on. Your daily meals are provided by your host family, which will let you concentrate on your language studies, but also give you the chance to speak in English with your hosts.

It includes 15 hours English and 10 hours English for Specific Purposes each week.

Each ESP course focuses on career-specific vocabulary and contexts, and is combined with a general English programme in order to develop your overall English language skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. These courses benefit professionals who want to develop their English communication skills for a work environment.

15 hours English and 10 hours IELTS exam preparation each week

The English+ course combine general English tuition with IELTS where students learn and practice key skills and exam techniques required for the IELTS exam.

This programme includes 15 hours of English plus 3 hours skills class per week.

English for Work - (Business English B1) An A2-B1 Business English course is designed to help learners develop their English language skills specifically for business and professional contexts. This course targets individuals who want to improve their communication abilities in the workplace.

This programme includes 15 hours of English plus 2 add-on skills classes - 21 hours of English lessons a week.

Skill classes can include English for Work (Business English), Communication Skills (Speaking and Listening) or a weekly IELTS skills class.

English for Work - (Business English B1) An A2-B1 Business English course is designed to help learners develop their English language skills specifically for business and professional contexts. This course targets individuals who want to improve their communication abilities in the workplace.
