How our students rated their experience in Venice
What our students said about Venice
A crumbling dream, past and yet still visible greatness, a struggle against the decay that is setting in everywhere, a lively, contradictory city with a morbid flair, omnipresent art, marvellous palazzi... the masses of tourists and their sometimes unbelievably bad behaviour must be a nightmare for the Venetians.
It should be clear to everyone that a big city like Venice is not comparable in price to a small Bavarian town. However, if you don't necessarily stay in the tourist corners, you can still eat cheaply and, above all, well. The Aperol Spritz costs from €3.50 upwards....... Venice is worth a visit!
The city does a lot to preserve the sights. Unfortunately, this also means that some monuments are not accessible. You also have to like the fact that there are always lots of tourists there.
Venice is a city that has a special aura due to its age. There are an incredible number of impressions to process, but every view is somehow beautiful, so you don't mind.
Venice is very touristy. But if you're there as a student and after a few days you find out where it's REALLY worth going, it's the most beautiful city in the world!
Anytime again, although I find the weekly ticket for the vaporetti a bit expensive (65 euros), even if the trip to Murano/Butanol is included.
I really like Venice because there is always something new to discover. A city whose history and the present are always interesting.
You have to deal with tourists who are only briefly in the city and essentially see them as a backdrop.
The best thing is the absence of cars. Tourist offices could and should make much more of the fact.
A magical city with a downside: excessive tourism which probably makes the inhabitants grumpy

The welcome and the whole atmosphere are wonderfully friendly, polite, appreciative and relaxed. The teachers are committed and approachable. The alternation of teaching methods is well thought out. The group size is excellent!
Can be recommended with a clear conscience.

I particularly liked the mix between the motivation to talk a lot and the intensity of the grammar teaching. Giulia was a fantastic teacher who showed us that you don't need a dictionary to speak Italian and solve problems. I also found the ‘gite guidate’ through Venezia's history and specialities with Alessandro very enriching. The location of the school is also good, easy to reach and the number of participants was also ideal.

Events in Venice
February 2025 - March 2025This carnival is famous worldwide for its very particular masks and historical costumes. There are balls & parties and the streets fill with costumed party-goers hoping to win the prize for best costume. Main events are held in the Piazza San Marco and the Arsenale.
July 2025This festival, like many in Europe, has its origins in a feast in honour of the saint who saved the inhabitants from the plague. Today, it is celebrated with a lengthy fireworks display and a bridge of barges is made to connect Il Redentore on Giudecca island to the rest of Venice
August 2025 - September 2025The film festival in Venice is the oldest in the world, founded in 1932. It is part of the Venice Biennale, a massive arts festival which includes several internationally scaled events for the visual arts, architecture, theatre, contemporary music and dance, and a children's carnival.
September 2025The most important rowing event of the year, this historic regatta is preceeded by a water pageant where people in renaissance garb put on a colourful boat parade. There are four races divided by category but the most exciting is the gondolini championship.

Q&A - Questions about Italian courses and schools in Venice
- When is the best time to visit Venice?“The best time to visit Venice depends a little on your priorities:
- If it's in relation to the course: our partner schools generally have fewer students during the year than in the summer months. September to June are therefore ideal!
- If it's a pleasant climate: the ideal periods are spring and autumn (April to June or September to October).
- If you want a quieter atmosphere: the best period is winter, from November to February (excluding Carnival).
- If you want to take advantage of Carnival: February is the best month.”Madly Simba, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 05, 2024Is it possible to start in the middle of the week?“All group courses run Monday to Friday. If you cannot start on a Monday, we can check availability for private lessons for you.”Louise Granath, LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 05, 2023Is there a student discount on public transport?“There are schools that can issue you with a letter that will allow you to pay a reduced price. Contact the school team directly on the first day of the course.”Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - May 16, 2023In Venice, quite a lot of rain was announced. Is it risky to come to Venice? I am asking because of the probably high water!“Please inform students that M.O.S.E. is operational since October 2020 (the mobile barriers that prevent high water phenomenon in Venice).”Elisa Carrer, Coordinatore from Istituto Venezia - Nov 11, 2021Didn't find what you are looking for?Interested in a specific type of course?
