This course is designed for people who work or study in Porto or Northern Portugal. It allows a student to have a regular, but somewhat intensive Portuguese course that keeps their learning experience at a high pace.

CIAL's teaching approach can be described as eclectic, as it combines various approaches and methodologies in structured lessons with clear aims. All skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - develop naturally with gradual learning of grammar, lexical and phonetic concepts through practice.

These classes have a maximum of 12 students, meaning you can get all the extra assistance you might need throughout the programme.

3 hours tuition per day + 1 hour iOL per day + 1 month of iOL follow up after course finishes + Monday iOL induction + Tuesday Lunch with teacher + Wednesday afternoon activity + Thursday Cinemateca + Friday diploma ceremony.

The course is designed for a minimum of 2 participants. However the course is guaranteed even if there is only 1 student. In this case the lesson duration with the teacher is reduced from 3 hours to 2 hours. The social programme is optional and is organised free of charge. Entrance fees, refreshments and travel expenses are not included in the price. It is not possible to recuperate missed classes.

Lessons on the Group Intensive course delivered at the Fast Forward Institute focus on the active use of the language. The teachers’ goal is to help you develop all the fundamental language skills of Portuguese, which are: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The lessons are 50 minutes long. Maximum of 6 students per group. Available from absolute beginner to advanced levels. Lessons are devoted to learning and practising grammar, as well as vocabulary extension. Nevertheless, the importance of communication is stressed throughout the course. An emphasis is placed on real-life situations through role-plays, conversations and interviews. The training is complemented by discussions around culture, history and current affairs, films, articles and music. The school closes on public holidays. However, missed classes will be made up for at a later date.

For those learners who don’t have any particular hurry or urgency when it comes to improving their French, the Classic course offered by InTuition in Montpellier is the best option - with a very manageable 15 hours of lessons per week. In practice, your total exposure to French will be much greater than 15 hours per week, due to the combined factors of living in Montpellier and living with a local homestay family in their home. You can take your learning at your own pace, and perhaps give more of your time to exploring what the surrounding city has to offer.

Your homestay family will provide you with breakfast, lunch and dinner - something that will save you time, and also create the opportunity for you to sit down together and have a chat in French about life, French culture, or just the weather.
