Riga ratings & opinions
How our students rated their experience in Riga
What our students said about Riga
Riga surpassed my expectations of what a small European town would be like. If you want a good mixture of small town living with access to big city life (without the craziness of huge tourist crowds), then Riga is the place to go!!
I don't like lists like that. I think Riga is a beautiful, pleasant city. I have already spent time there twice with great pleasure.
As a metropolis in the Baltics, Riga is of course more expensive than the surrounding area, but it has a lot to offer.
Riga is a great town for studying or touristic activities!

My teacher was BEYOND amazing! She was sweet and patient and made the classroom a fun/safe place to experiment with new language skills. The school itself is organized and clean, and all of the staff are kind and accommodating. I would recommend learning Russian through this school to anyone!

”Ana Carolina Dos Santos, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 21, 2022FAQ - Frequently asked questions about Russian courses in Riga
- Do people in the city really speak Russian?“In Riga, the capital of Latvia, a significant proportion of the population speaks Russian. The main reasons for this are historical and demographic. During the Soviet era, many Russians emigrated to Latvia, resulting in a large Russian-speaking minority.
According to recent statistics :
A significant proportion of Riga's population is of Russian origin.
Russian is commonly used in everyday life by this community, and even among Latvians who are not of Russian origin, many understand and speak Russian because of the shared history.”Madly Simba, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 11, 2024Are people reluctant to speak Russian?“Since Latvia's independence in 1991, there have been considerable efforts to promote the use of Latvian as an official language and to strengthen its use in the public and educational spheres. Latvian therefore remains the official and predominant language in institutions and official documents.
I don't think there is any reluctance, but a significant part of the population in Riga speaks Russian, but Latvian remains the official language and the one mainly used in government and official affairs.”Madly Simba, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Jul 11, 2024Didn't find what you are looking for?Interested in language travel to other cities?
