The school promotes that, at present, ProBa is one of the leading institutions offering academic courses of the Russian Language for Foreigners and intensive language practise in Russia.
Location: ProBa Educational Centre St. Petersburg is located in the culturally rich Russian capital of St. Petersburg. The school is housed in the Vladimirsky area of the city near Nevsky Prospect and within a few minutes' walk from Kazan Cathedral, Isaak Cathedral and State Hermitage. There are also many amenities, eateries, links to public transport and attractions within walking distance. Such attractions include the Lomonosov Bridge, the Faberge Museum, the Anichkov Bridge, several Movie theatres and more.
Course selection: The school provides Russian language courses suitable for students of all levels. In addition to General Russian taught over several schedules and intensities, ProBa Educational Centre also provides Russian for Tourism, Russian and Culture, and various programmes with activities around the city. ProBa Educational Centre St. Petersburg also provides English language courses.
Social and cultural: The school promotes many excursions and cultural happenings for a student's optional participation. Excursions can include trips to Moscow, Pskov and Novgorod. Various excursions and activities are also arranged around St. Petersburg. These activities can involve discussions on topics such as Russian orthodoxy and economics as well as visits to galleries and museums.

Learn Russian while studying while studying in small groups limited to a maximum of 8 students, with the possibility of the group being even smaller. You will find that participating in classes of this size is much easier than in larger settings since both the teacher and the students can hear each other easily, and have more opportunities to get to know one another.
The methodology favoured in this course tends to make use of interactive activities, to engage everyone as an active participant, giving you more total time spent speaking in Russian.
Get ready to jump into a productive routine of 20 lessons per week, in which you’ll study in a group that corresponds to your current level of Russian - determined by the placement test that the school asks you to complete upon signing up.

Special note for 2025 holiday season: If you plan to take a course during the high season months of April, June, July or August 2025 we urgently advise you to book as early as possible. In 2024 many schools were fully booked during the holidays and the situation is unlikely to be different for 2025 due to a current shortage of teachers, which affects most schools.

“My teacher Stanislav is excellent and the other teachers have been praised by fellow students too. Stanislav is proficient in many languages like me so we had very lively and interesting lessons also about grammatical language comparison. He talked to me exclusively in Russian, although I still struggle with my speaking it was a very good exercise. I now have access to an entirely new language. Also cultural and political issues were raised in the conversations. Stanislav has written a teaching tool,with whom I worked too which was outstanding.”

“The enthusiasm of the teachers for their jobs, their professionalism, the variety in the teachings between grammar with new learning units and free conversations/discussions. We always spoke in Russian, only if it was very hard to follow or with new vocabulary we switched to English. Even difficult topics were adressed with humorous text, which were also used as basis for discussion. The atmosphere for learning in the group and with the teacher (Ira) was great.”

However, the city also offers so many ways to do something in excursions, churches and museum visits, there is something for every taste. To stay with a host family has a great advantage: you personally learn a lot more about the country and people, and can use what you have learned in class.”

An advantage was - what first seemed a bit crowded - that all students got in contact in the hallway during the break. That made the school very familial. Can the school provide this health insurance?“The school's health insurance is an additional optional health insurance. Such insurance will be available in St Petersburg when the student is granted official state student status, approximately 40 days after arrival. This insurance is optional and cannot be submitted to the consulate.
