Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a northern state in Germany. It is on the coast of the Baltic Sea and shares its border with Poland. The capital city of the state is Schwerin, which rests on the edge of Lake Schwerin. Aside from its beautiful lake, other attractions in the city include the Schwerin Castle and the art gallery - Staatliches Museum Schwerin. Although Schwerin is the capital city, the largest city in the region is the University city of Rostock. The northern area of the state, Rugen, has interesting natural beauty spots. Visitors can experience Cape Arkona and the beautiful chalk cliffs in Jasmund National Park. It is also home to the Rügen narrow-gauge railway.
