Location: Intercultura Costa Rica Spanish Schools Heredia is located in the Costa Rican city of Heredia, on the outskirts of San José. The school is housed in a large residential home which has been converted into a school, surrounded by garden space. Within walking distance of the school are several eateries, links to public transport and attractions such as the Nicolás Ulloa Central Park, the Mercado Central de Heredia and the Plaza Heredia commercial shopping centre.
Course selection: Intercultura Costa Rica Spanish Schools Heredia provides Spanish language tuition throughout the year. In addition to General Spanish, available to students of all levels, the school also provides programmes of private or semi-private tuition, Academic immersion courses for teenagers and immersive camps for kids, teens & the rest of the family. Combination programmes of Spanish and volunteering within local projects and organisations are also readily available.
Accommodation: The school can arrange accommodation with local homestay families or in one and two-bedroom private apartments. The apartments are housed on the floor above the school, ensuring students have all they need in one place! The homestay accommodations are within walking distance of the school.
School facilities: The school facilities include a terrace, a movie room, a lounge area, and garden for socialising, a student support desk for any questions that arise and free WiFi.

Special note for 2025 holiday season: If you plan to take a course during the high season months of April, June, July or August 2025 we urgently advise you to book as early as possible. In 2024 many schools were fully booked during the holidays and the situation is unlikely to be different for 2025 due to a current shortage of teachers, which affects most schools.

“My teacher, Jesús, was excellent! Seriously, one of the best teachers I've ever seen. The office staff were all friendly and helpful.”
“The school is fine, really it is. My only negative comments would relate to the town of Heredia itself. It's a little bit slummy and not very interesting, but even at that, I got used to being there.”

Generally course material is distributed free to students and will stay in student property.
Comments about courses
Holidays which fall on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday will be moved to the Friday (or Monday) of that same week.
If there happens to be only one student in a class/level, class hours will be adjusted to 2.5 hours per day of private instruction. Class time goes back to 4 hours per day as soon as another student joins the class/level.

USD 28 from SJO to Heredia (one way).
Individual classes
Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 30 US$. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.

- The two of us book a language course, but we have different levels of Spanish. Can we have classes at the same time?“We will do our best to help students traveling together to be on the same class schedule, but we cannot guarantee this (except for families attending with minors). It is the students' responsibility to speak with the Spanish Coordinator by Wednesday of each week to request the same schedule for the following week of study, and we will do our best to accommodate you. However, again, we cannot guarantee this, so please take this into account if it is a determining factor in their study programme here.

The one thing I need to know would be if Intercultura Costa Rica Spanish School has official transcripts. My university needs an official transcript after I am done with my courses/lessons to be able to officially give me credit for them. If you can answer this question, that would be amazing!
“As Intercultura Costa Rica Spanish schools is not a university, we are not an accredited institution. However, although we are not an accredited institution, there are several universities in the US and Canada that endorse our programme and have accepted it to be part of their Study abroad programme. Those universities receive and accept our documentation (Curriculum, grades, exams, transcripts, and final portfolios or essays as required by the university) as proof of the educational and evaluative progress via which they grant the credits to their students. It is very important that if a student comes to study with us for university credits, that he/she has already presented our Curriculum to the Spanish department/Study abroad department of his/her university and has been approved for academic credits from Intercultura to be granted.
