Location: Tiberius International is located in the beautiful and historic city of Rimini, in northern Italy. The school is surrounded by many landmarks, cafés, eateries and modern-day shops, allowing students ample opportunity to blend the times of the Roman Empire with those of today. Historical sites such as the Domus del Chirurgo, Cavour Square and the Sismondo Castle are just some of the attractions that are a few minutes' walk from the school's front doors. With both the large green space of the Parco XXV Aprile and the beautiful coastal beaches within walking distance, students are sure to enjoy their time in Rimini whilst achieving their language goals.

City history: A city of art, with over 22 centuries of history, Rimini was once one of the most important cities of ancient Rome.

“Everyone was very friendly and open-minded. The teacher of the first group also quickly noticed that I had to change to another group because the level was too low for me. Everyone always speaks Italian and explains everything over and over again with great patience. I felt perfectly taken care of. I will come again.”

Quality of teaching / language progress: I especially liked the family-like, uncomplicated and humorous way of interacting with each other, the excursion to San Marino and that Emmily could join us. Many many thanks for that. The teachers also teach grammar and conversation with pleasure. I learned a lot.

“For me, this month was a beautiful experience. However, there were also shortcomings. The school was good, the teacher very friendly. However, the different levels should be separated more precisely.”

“A friend came to visit and stayed with me. This was a big problem for my landlords in the beginning. I even offered to pay something for my friend if that was the problem. However, he assured me that it was not about money, but about security. Finally, the school approached me and told me that I had to report it to the school first and that it would cost 35 euros per night. Which surprised me a lot. In addition, the fridge came into the room on my last day, which didn't help me much either. ”

Insider tip: “Fight back, demand to speak more Italian during class. Our teacher Alessia spoke 97 percent of the time. Us maybe a single word. Incredible. I once asked her if we could even read the whole sentence and not just the missing word. Oh, the teacher was downright pissed off, I just read a few sentences cheekily. In the second week I asked her if she could please speak more slowly because I often didn't understand but she refused. Her comment was that this was the way people talked in Italy. Monika spoke slowly and in simple sentences but Alessia didn't want to. The 5 of us from May 14th were the only ones for the first week. We were all put into the same class, with different levels of knowledge, regardless of the entry test results. The pronunciation, the speaking, would have been so important for the 2 Thais in particular. Arrogant demeanor from Alessia. In the 2nd week there was a teacher in the other class who, I heard, had better pedagogical knowledge and included everyone in the group, there was more talk. I think in the 2 weeks I spoke less than 10 minutes of Italian in class. Alessia also had no patience, so she pushed her program forward in a hurry. A PITY.”

Other comments As an apprentice trainer, I know that you can teach in groups at different levels, how important it is to let the students speak, even to let them speak incorrectly. A teacher just stands at the blackboard and speaks Italian so quickly that I wasn't the only one who didn't understood anything, grrr. Written homework would be obvious for me as a teacher, then correcting it together, going through the text together. The teacher should not be on her mobile while we solve tasks in writing, but should look over our shoulders. Oh, sometimes I didn't even know what she was asking of us. She sat there and she was busy with her mobile. For example, ask us about the weekend so we can explain in Italian what we did. It's about speaking Italian and the teacher should be interested in us students, incorporate enthusiasm for the classroom.

Comments about courses

Tiberius also offers Latin language classes for lovers of the Roman civilisation and Latin culture. Recommended for secondary school students who have Latin as a school subject. School groups can combine Latin courses with Italian courses.
30 hours per week:

    The school also offers language weeks in Italian, English and Latin for schools. This is available all year round. Prices are on request.
Individual classes
Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 35 €. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.
