I had a great teacher. All the staff was trying to help with any questions all the time. I felt very comfortable. Also nice that you get free tea and coffee all day. It is just getting a bit too noisy from the classes in the afternoon.
Insider tip: Go hiking in the mountains directly from Cusco. You don’t need to book trips far away. It’s only a 15 minutes walk up and you will find breathtaking and pure nature.

Other comments Very modest accommodations. The family rented rooms have five other people in most English-speaking, so instead of Spanish language daily was very often in English. No independent bathroom was a surprise to me. Actually it was more like a shared apartment, plus meals prepared by the family.

The Spanish lessons were good. I really enjoyed the instructors and the methods they used for teaching.

Other comments Staying with Patricia is horrible. Students should try not to be placed in her home. While Patricia is kind and good hearted, staying with her is uncomfortable at best. No breakfast is served, not even coffee. The food she serves for dinner and lunch is usually rice and sauces with no fresh fruits or veg. Dinner was always late by at least an hour, and many times she didn't serve us until 9 pm. Also, her home is about a 45-minute bus ride from the school. If I were to return to Maximo, I would make sure to request a different accommodation.

Other comments I have paid 4 weeks accommodation ... a week has 7 nights that would be 28 nights. However, only 27 nights were paid to my host family and I therefore had to move out a day earlier. My suggestion would be to indicate the accommodation reservation in days on the bill and not in weeks. This would dismiss any errors. I have paid the same amount for 7 nights as for 6 nights. So I want the 7th Day of my last week refunded.

Questions and answers about Máximo Nivel

  • Please send us the travel details and I will forward them to the school. The school will send me more details which I will then pass on to you. There is usually no direct contact with the school before arrival, but of course with the family as soon as you receive the details of the family from me.
    Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 13, 2022
  • As soon as the school has confirmed the course, your course place is guaranteed! In the event that there are not enough people at your level to form a group class, your class time is adjusted as follows:
    • 4 hours of group class moves to 2 hours of private class.
    • 2 hours of group class moves to 1 hour of private class.
    Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 13, 2022
  • You are responsible for your daily transportation to and from the institute. Local bus rides are very affordable. Taxis are more expensive and costs vary based on distance travelled. We recommend budgeting about $5 per day for public transport, at the time of writing.
    Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 13, 2022
  • Máximo Nivel is Spanish for maximum level. Máximo Nivel offers the highest quality, most affordable, safest education travel programmes available for individuals and groups. We like to think in terms of “No Limits!”
    Lisa Lebret, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 23, 2022
  • Maximo Nivel has been offering educational travel programmes since 2003. We are a locally-based organization in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Peru. We’re the real deal-we’re a feet-on-the street, live here, work here kind of organization. We offer top-notch programmes and great client service. Our programme fees are affordable and transparent.
We can help you see new places and have new experiences. We can help you move beyond your comfort zone, while keeping you comfortable! We’re experts at working with you to create a personalized programme that best suits your needs. We’re not a “sending” or “placement” organization-we directly manage your entire programme and we’re personally involved in making sure you have a great experience with us in Latin America.
    Lisa Lebret, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 23, 2022
  • We love to have travel buddies and couples join us at Máximo Nivel! We can make sure you’re picked-up together (or separately) and that you have the same accommodations and programme type. Just be sure to make note of who exactly your travel buddy is when you register.
    Lisa Lebret, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 23, 2022
  • Yes-of course! Airport pick-up is included in all of our programmes. Maximo Nivel’s professional drivers meet you outside of baggage claim as you exit the airport, just look for the yellow smiley face flag. You receive a Welcome Folder detailing your accommodations, orientation time, and our Emergency contact numbers. Depending on your time of arrival, you come to the Maximo institute or go directly to your accommodations.
Your orientation includes specific details about your programme, a health and safety review, and a short walking tour to be sure you’re familiar with the area around the Maximo institute. During your orientation, you also take a Spanish placement exam.
    Lisa Lebret, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 23, 2022
  • Maximo Nivel’s institutes offer a great home-base for all of our programme participants. All of our clients and students have access to free WiFi and computer lounges. Our institutes are open 7 days/week, including holidays except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Note that some of our volunteer projects are based in rural settings and may not have the same level of phone and internet service. At these projects, you must be prepared for slow and/or intermittent service.

The best way to communicate with friends and family back home is via Skype, Facetime, and other web-based services.
    Lisa Lebret, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 23, 2022
  • The best time to visit Guadeloupe is typically during the winter months (December to April) when the weather is usually warm and dry without being too hot. This time of year is ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities while avoiding the humidity and rain of the summer months.
    Tanja, Languagecourse.Net - May 10, 2023
  • Yes, there will be a level test as soon as there is some prior knowledge. This test usually takes place on the first day of school. The classes are put together on the basis of the level.
    Tanja, Languagecourse.Net - May 10, 2023
