Location: Southport is a suburb of the Gold Coast, to the North of the city, and is the business hub of the region. Australian International College of Language sits on one of the main roads of the neighbourhood, opposite the Broadwater parklands, with views across the coral sea to the Gold Coast Spit.

Local attractions: Just down the road from the school is the Australian Fair Shopping Centre, which boasts a wide variety of shops, endless food options and a cinema for those who want to enjoy a film in the evening. There is plenty to keep students busy in this borough, with an excellent Aboriginal Art Gallery who work with the aboriginal painters to help display their pieces, Anzac Park and The Rockpools which merge from Broadwater parklands and Southport reserve for some hikes in wildlife. Australia is famous for its beaches and Southport main beach does not disappoint.

Getting around: The main beach is a quick 15 minute bus ride from the street behind the school or a leisurely 40 minute stroll.

Beach life: The beach stretches all the way along the coast of the city, intersecting with surfers paradise for any students who would like to take up or improve upon this adrenaline filled sport. If surfing is not your thing, then why not try a day of snorkeling or diving in Southport's seaway which has been described as the best shorewater location for diving in Queensland. In general, by public transport, it takes around 30 minutes from Australian International College of Language to the main city centre of the Gold Coast, with the main attraction being the beautiful beaches.

Course structure: Australian International College of Language is the longest running school on the Gold Coast with nearly 30 years experience. Students can take a General English course in either a full time or part time duration and there are specific courses available for those wanting to tailor their studies in a particular field. These options include professional sport, academic purposes for further learning and high school preparation.

Junior packages: Whilst the general courses are available for those students as young as 14 years of age there are also young learner programmes at the school for the spring, summer and winter months. The programmes are for those aged between 6 and 12 years of age and include homestay accommodation for full immersion with the school providing afternoon activities to keep the students entertained and provide a glimpse into the local culture. Young learner programmes are for a limited number of weeks, but the school also offers its young learners the chance to join a course all year round for a maximum duration of up to 6 months. This year round course does not include accommodation or activities.

School facilities: The school has wonderful facilities for the students to use including a computer room, a garden, a lounge, a balcony and a student support desk. The staff are highly trained in teaching English to foregin students and the school is NEAS Quality Endorsed which gives students confidence that their learning is in good hands whilst attending Australian International College of Language.

Very good school. Amazing teachers abd great location: close to the park, by the water. Very well conducted lessons. Lots of discussions on important and current topics, lots of independent thinking (my level is intermediate). I recommend it to everyone, really. It was great! My learning didn't last long, but I improved my English very quickly. I think I'll go back there again to do the academic level :) I also want to thank Ms. Gosia Mazur, who very cleverly guided me and negotiated a lower price. Thank you, greetings and ... I think until next time!
