Childrens Program (6 to 12 years old)
Tamarindo Beach
This course includes a combination of educational field trips and lessons designed to stimulate the attention of young students using visual and manual aids.WAYRA has created a highly popular Spanish program for children up to age 12. This specially designed Spanish course is more than a set of teaching aids; it is rooted in a methodology which stimulates different learning styles to capture the attention of young students in a way which helps them to learn faster and with a higher level of retention. Depending on the age of the child, classes are a combination of educational field trips and classroom instruction using many visual and manual aids.
WAYRA offers 2-week courses for children during the summer break and they also accept reservations for the children's program outside those dates. Summer courses may also be extended beyond two weeks upon availability.
On the first day of class children are evaluated to determinate their level of Spanish. Different groups are organized depending on the children’s level, age and interest.
This is a great option for families traveling with children. For a fee, baby sitters are available for children that do not attend school. WAYRA can also organize a nanny to take care of the children while their parents are taking classes. In some cases, the nanny may be a member of the host family. The nanny can take the children to the beach, children's park, or for a walk close to the school. Most of the nannies only speak Spanish.
It is recommended you make reservations for children's classes at least 8 weeks in advance, but the school will also accept reservations on shorter notice whenever possible.
Hours of the Classes: WAYRA determines the schedule according to the level
Requirements: Our academic coordinator suggests the appropriate level for each child after a personal interview and a placement test
Certificates: Attendance and Achievement Certificate at graduation
NOTE: If there is only 1 child registered for a course, instead of 20 lessons, the school will offer 15 private lessons per week. Thanks to these one-to-one lessons, coupled with more efficient and focused learning, the child achieves by the end of the week the same learning goals as the 20 lessons course.

Teenager Program (13 to 16 years old)
Tamarindo Beach
This course includes language lessons and activities such as walks on the beach and touring the center of Tamarindo. Different games are used to make the learning process interesting and fun.Our teenager Spanish course in Tamarindo Beach has become a very successful program during the last few years. The course is designed to ensure that students enjoy their Spanish classes as much as they enjoy the time they spend at the beach. Classroom activities such as walks to the beach and the center of Tamarindo, plus all kinds of different games are used to make the learning process interesting and fun.
The aim of the course is to develop the students' language skills in all areas but the major emphasis is on developing speaking and comprehension skills, so there are a lot of practical activities that involve a great deal of interaction with locals. Since we receive students from a lot of different nationalities, it is relatively easy to ensure that everyone uses Spanish to communicate.
We also try to ensure that students get the most out of their visits to places of interest in and around Tamarindo. In addition, we organize during the week all kind of activities such as beach barbeques, Latin Dance classes, cooking classes, Canopy tours, soccer and volleyball games at the beach and more to allow our teenager students to have an unforgettable time while they study Spanish. In addition, we offer a great opportunity to combine Spanish lessons with surf lessons. For more information please check out our Spanish and Surf program.
This teenager Spanish program is designed for teenagers from 13 -16 years old. Teenagers that are younger than 16 years old and wish to attend our program without their parents or other adult supervision should be mature enough to be self-sufficient and responsible for their own decision-making. All students under age of 18 travelling alone are required to present a signed parental consent.
We offer during the summer break several 2 weeks courses for teenager. Of course we also accept reservations for the teenager program on other dates and it is possible to extend more weeks, but these dates depend upon availability and have to be consulted first with our reservation department.

In the school's Spanish programme for kids, students will be placed in a group based on their age, maturity and Spanish level during the placement evaluation there on site. Middleschool and Highschool grade levels are not used as a placement factor.
Course content is based on the language levels of each student, and as such, ages within each classroom may vary, and the school expect both kids and parents to be flexible and respectful of age and any other differences (ethnicities, native languages, religion, disabilities, gender expression, etc). They believe that student diversity in all areas can only enhance the linguistic, social and cultural experiences that children are exposed to at our camp. Their teachers are skilled at managing multi-age classrooms, with units and activities suitable for each age group, similar to many Montessori classrooms. If, however, you want your child to be only with children at his own age, we recommend exploring standard elementary or high school options.
