I'm not going to fill this in because the school and host family are 20 bus minutes away from Malaga. Malaga itself, a nice city and lots to do. Good bus connection with La Cala del Moral. But in January La Cala is not a nice village: restaurants and bars closed due to holidays. I didn't like it. I was there alone and it was not nice that there was nothing to do. The village further away Rincon de la Victoria is much livelier. But that was a 45-minute walk from the host family (and back again). So after lunch, sometimes until 4 p.m., that was not an option because it was dark early and often cold. As a result, you rarely take the bus to Malaga. Just practically with the school (900 to 1200 and meal time, 1430 to 1600) difficult to implement. Still, I would like to come back here, but in February or March.
In my opinion Malaga isn’t the prettiest city in Andalusia and also not the one with the most stunning attractions, but it has a little bit of everything: some sights, “okayish” beaches, a decent nightlife and everything one could hope for with regard to shopping. There are also great bars and restaurants. In addition, the climate is super nice - even in the summer, when most of Andalusia is crushed by heat waves. You can also make use of Spain’s excellent rail service and visit other places like Seville, Cordoba or Granada in less than two hours.
A small sweet town, which turns into a party mile in the evening. As a result, there is an increased smell of urine (thanks to some incontinent men) and rubbish in the small streets. Thanks to many cleaners, there is nothing to be seen of this the next morning. The beach and the harbour are very beautiful and were my second home in good weather (in February/March unfortunately a lot of rain and cooler than expected). The people working in Malaga are mostly very nice and most of them can talk to you well in English.
Málaga is one of my favourite cities all over the world, although not in the unbearably hot high summer. In recent years, however, it has become increasingly crowded, and it is striking that more than half of the flats in the old town are occupied not by locals but by Airbnb (&Co) customers. I say that as part of the problem. If you include the places Pedregalejo, El Palo and El Dedo, which are within walking distance, in your Málaga experience, you will find a great place by the sea.
Very beautiful city that is easy to get around in. There are very beautiful landmarks to visit and a number of interesting museums. Public transport is above expectations, although it can be a little difficult to understand the system if you do not speak Spanish. Overall, the city is pretty clean, but if you go into secluded alley watch your step: people don't pick up after their dogs. Would definitely recommend Malaga.
If you like a smaller city, Malaga is the place for you! The historic old town, where you live, is easy to explore on foot. Every time you discover new restaurants, tapas bars or ice cream parlors that you still want to try out. The Soho area is also fun to explore and the beaches anyway. It is highly recommended that you borrow a bike and explore both the beaches in the direction of Pedregalejo and in the west.
Lots of sites and monuments to see, tons of restaurants and bars to go out, very friendly people, which is really good to practice Spanish in the shops and streets. I had no issues with safety. The city is kept very clean, e.g. after a huge storm, all the leaves and branches that fell off the trees were cleaned up the next day. Everything is very accessible by foot if you're staying at a place near the center.
My favorite city in Spain. For me definitely the best place where to stay longer and study. Málaga has everything - nice beaches, beautiful city centre, amazing history, endless number of great restaurants and pubs and good weather almost all year. The city is also very safe and traveling by public transport is comfortable.
Malaga is a fabulous city to stay in for a short or longer time. It feels very safe. It's easy to walk about, and the public transport is brilliant and easy to navigate. There's lots to do, including historical sites, museums, theatres, the beach and walks along the seafront. I heard that the nightlife is excellent too!
The city is still very attractive, but is becoming more touristy every year, with more and more housing lost for locals and used as tourist accommodation. Some streets in the Centro historico could easily be described as "Calle AirBnB", although I have to admit that I am part of the problem.

You can visit the monumental center in a beautiful city and the coast known internationally for the environment, beaches, marinas and golf courses (Torremolinos, Marbella, Nerja ...). The temperatures will allow you to enjoy a magnificent nightlife with a variety of cultural activities and fun. Our city and our people will make you fall in love.
