What our students said about Rome
I have been visiting Rome for many years and unfortunately I have to say that it has changed very negatively. This year you can't recommend anyone to go there as the whole city is a building site due to the Holy Year next year. Piazza Navona, Piazza Farnese, Ponte d'Angelo are scaffolded, and these are just three examples of many. In addition, many owner-managed shops have disappeared and the number of restaurants has increased considerably. The calibre of visitors has also changed for the worse, with many visiting the city dressed as if they were on the beach, which is very unpleasant in the restaurants. I spoke to my teacher about this and he could only confirm my impression.
Not again in midsummer, at 39 degrees in the shade it is quite unbearable and the crowds of tourists are also quite annoying, otherwise it is absolutely great, you can't walk 100 metres without coming across a historically relevant building, the museums are impressive, the opera in the Caracalla Baths is highly recommended and I would love to import the pasticcerias to Germany
Unique city with an incredible amount of history and culture, definitely worth seeing! It remains incomprehensible that apart from the historical core, little is being done for the public sector (renovation of the streets, garbage disposal, replacement of the ailing trams, reduction of emissions ...).
I can't say anything about the nightlife and the surrounding area. Rome is a great city that, unlike other large cities, can be explored on foot. There are also many beautiful and interesting things to discover away from the hotspots that are besieged by tourists.
In general, the city is dirty and looks neglected, which is common in many Italian cities. Otherwise, I found it quite pleasant and safe for a big city. Of course, it is worth visiting things despite the rivers of people in almost every part of the city centre.
You have to live Rome and not just visit it. It has an immense cultural wealth due to its history. By spending more time there one perceives the identity of the districts of Rome as well as the preserved traditions (many "small trades" disappeared in France).
Was currently under the positions, mainly in the Colosseum region. Very busy, lots of police on the track as well as soldiers. Many homeless people here and there. Just lie on the road or next to it.
We were surprised by how much we enjoyed living there for two weeks during the class. The Piazza Navona area is delightful, and a perfect location. Lodging in that area is quite expensive, however.
I loved Rome!!!! Everything is united in this city, the beach is an hour away, I miss living there already. Always felt very safe, there are always lots of people out at night too :)
Rome is my second home. I've known it pretty well and with this programme I was able to dilute my living here by having dedication of going to school to learn and have lots of fun.

Rome is a magic city in a great location, only 40 minutes by public transport from the sea. Romans welcome foreigners warmly offering not only art and culture but also good food and wine. Cities, like Florence, Naples can be reached within 2 hours.
The City can talk for herself, but we have to remind you that, as Rome is in the centre of Italy, all the other Italian cities are a maximum of 3 hours on the train from Rome. Naples is just one hour by train, Florence 1,5 hour!
To list all of Rome’s treasures would be impossible: Rome is one of the most important historic, artistic, and cultural cities in the world. The fun possibilities are endless. Fast, economical transportation connects you to most national and international destinations.
Centuries of history and art, not only in the incredible amount of unique museums, but everywhere in the squares, along the streets, churches and parks.

The teachers were superb and I liked the fact that the mornings were split into half grammar (with loads of exercises and practice) and half "communication skills - speaking/reading/writing". I also had some additional individual conversation sessions, which really improved my confidence level.
Everyone at the school was incredibly friendly and helpful - it felt like being part of a big family. I was there for 2 months and I wish I could have stayed a little bit longer - I'll definitely go back there!

Information about Rome
This ancient city is filled to the brim with spectacular historical monuments. The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and Pantheon are just a few of the many places to visit. The city has a wonderful art and culture scene here. There is no better opportunity to see this than in the Vatican city in both the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museum. Don’t think you can rest after a day of sightseeing. Rome has an electric nightlife. Meeting locals and partying into the early hours of the morning is both easy and affordable. Of course, you cannot fail to mention the food. The capital city of the country with arguably the best food in the world does not disappoint. There are lots of local restaurants to choose from in a range of prices for everyone’s budget. What are you waiting for, see it for yourself!
Sadly, Rome is a hot spot for petty crime and there are a large number of beggars on the streets. A firm “no” will often deter even the most persistent but it is highly recommended to keep an eye on your belongings at all times. The wonders of Rome are no secret. Tickets often sell out quickly in high season, with very long queues at the most popular visitor attractions. Book well in advance and take a gelato for the long lines.

February 2025This week-long carnival celebration starts out with a grand parade where the participants are enveloped in the sumptuous costumes of the commedia dell'arte.
March 2025Rome hosts an annual marathon that is immensely popular. There are so many participants that it qualifies as the biggest sporting event in the country. The course is quite flat, despite Rome's famous seven hills.
01 May 2025All-day open-air concert in Rome held every year on Italy's equivalent to labour day. Many acts perform in this marathon-esque show, both national and international. The concert is free and the crowd is massive.
June 2025 - August 2025A festival of jazz featuring concerts, dances, exhibitions and other events about jazz and swing. Held in the Parco della Musica.
June 2025 - September 2025Summer-long festival of events organised by the city: art, film, dance, music, theatre, activities for children, and more.
