Location: The school is located in the heart of the historical downtown of Queretaro. Situated in the historical downtown district of the city, which has been declared a “Cultural Heritage of Mankind” by UNESCO , OLE has plenty of interesting attractions close by. It is a short walk from the River Querétaro and the Puente de los candados.

Getting around: The downtown quarter is very central within the city. Most of the attractions in Queretaro are in the centre including museums about the history and art of the region as well as some interesting temples. There are bus services from OLE that go to El Cerrito Archaeological Zone, for students wanting to immerse themselves in the archaeological history of the region. The local bus lines for this usually take around 60 minutes depending on the time of day. Bus is the preferred transportation option in the city, and there are many routes that reach the suburbs of Queretaro.

Programmes: The school teaches Spanish classes in a range of styles. For those wanting to learn the basics of the language, there are general classes with different levels of intensity to cover the students' different learning styles. There are executive classes for a high level of commitment, which consist of group classes and private lessons for fast learning. The DELE exam preparation course is designed for students who want to pass this official Spanish exam.

Accommodation: OLE has full board, breakfast only and self catering homestay options for students who want accommodation during their stay.

I was an absolute beginner. Everyone involved was very eager to create and organize the right thing for me. I was very happy to find a German website from Germany and to have a German contact.

Friendly helpful teachers and administrative staff. The location is excellent.
Insider tip: I can't think of any.

Quality of teaching / language progress: 1. I performed the examination to assess the appropriate level prior to going to the school but for some reason this was never passed on to the teachers. Fortunately I had a printed copy with me so this was corrected reasonably quickly. 2. The school arranged a walking tour of the city centre but I felt could have offered more help and information regarding tours of the surrounding region, particularly the Sierra Gorda. Local tour companies would not take reservations for one person and it might have been helpful to know if other students would have been interested in taking this kind of tours.
Other comments Might have been helpful if I had known results of exam ahead of time and also what areas teachers planned to cover.

Some teachers didn't seem to have a clear structure. Some teachers were boring, and not dynamic and interesting. Some were.
Insider tip: Go to this school when they are not entertaining any university students.

Quality of teaching / language progress: Some teachers were boring and didn't seem to have a clear plan for teaching. When I taught first grade, I was required to have a lesson plan for the month, week and day. Some did some didn't. I also would have liked to practice more talking with other students who were at my level or beyond my level, and to listen more to native speakers to try to get used to the speed.
Other comments There should be a very strict DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH policy. When I was in Cuernavaca years ago, they would fine anyone speaking English. They hired little kids to run around to listen, and would write up a ticket to pay a fine. It was VERY effective!
