Location: International Gateway Kelowna is located in Kelowna city in the Okanagan Valley, in the south of Canada's British Columbia province. The school is in downtown Kelowna, on the main shopping street with restaurants, bike rentals, shops and entertainment venues, just moments away. The beautiful green space of Kelowna City Park, as well as the Hot Sands Beach, are both within a 20-minute walk of the school's front doors.

International Gateway Kelowna is very respected within its community and promotes a vibrant, friendly and exciting atmosphere to motivate and encourage each student in reaching their language goals. IGK has previously achieved various awards from iStudy UK, including best language school in Canada.

Social and Cultural: Many activities are available in Kelowna and the surrounding area, ranging from skiing and snowboarding in the winter months to horse riding, historic visits and theatre productions throughout the year. The abundance of activities and excursions can mean that it is hard to choose which one gives the best option and opportunity. IGK is happy to assist in organising the best-suited options for each student's needs.

Course selection: Courses with IGK are very extensive, offering something to students of a range of different ages and interests. Specialised courses include Volunteer Llacement programmes, TESOL Certificate, Business English Certificate and practical programmes in customer service. Combination courses, ideal during a vacation, such as Hot Yoga or Agriculture & Wine, are also available at certain times of the year and include accommodation.

“The thing that I liked most about the school is the relationships between the students and the opportunity to learn about different cultures.”
Insider tip: “If they want to take the Cambridge course they should keep asking every month because I personally chose that school to take the Cambridge course used in my university in Mexico and they cancelled the course without telling me and their answer was "we don't have enough people".”

Other comments I payed for 7 months of school and I think that it is very unprofessional that I didn't receive a book. Even the photocopies were just bad quality. They repeated more than 15 classes with the same themes and exercises. They put me with lower level students for classes during the winter because there were not enough students to open my level and in my experience if a person wants to learn good English conversation they need to be talking with people better than them in English.

Comments about courses

Valid medical insurance which covers students' entire stay is required for all students. Available before arrival from IGK at a cost of CAD 25 per week. Proof of valid medical insurance will be checked on the first day of classes.


Guardianship is a requirement for all unaccompanied students under age 19. Initial fee CAD 200 + CAD 120 per month service care.
