What our students said about Taormina (Sicily)

Taormina is a very pretty town, but unfortunately also extremely touristy as a result. I was there in the low season in April and it was already too crowded for me, I don't even want to imagine the high season. I was happy to have my accommodation a little away from the old town. There are many restaurants, but some of them are not very cheap. There were plenty of buses from the bus station every day for excursions in the surrounding area. It was also easy to get to a number of interesting destinations by train (although you had to walk or drive down to the station first). The cable car connection is practical, but at 6 euros per journey it is simply too expensive to use regularly. The shopping facilities for food (supermarkets) are quite limited.

Definitely do, had been there once before about 30 years ago, unfortunately as everywhere in Italy it has become very touristy. Taormina is a quaint town, be careful walking, lots of stairs. My hotel was in Taormina Mazzero and I took the cable car (bought a monthly subscription, was there for 4 weeks total) to Taormina.

Taormina is a very touristy place, so there is quite a lot of crowds in the city. Since we took the bus from Giardini-Naxos to Taormina every day, there were more opportunities for us to spend our free time by the sea

The place to go in Sicily. In summer it is overcrowded, november is a good month to go. More expensive than other cities in Italy, but worth it.

It had been several years since I had taken an Italian course, so it was good for me to start at a beginner level. The school is well organized and very helpful. Has a nice garden.
