I learned so many new things in a very short time and, thanks to the motivation of the teacher and the other students, I finally dared to apply what I had learned. The school welcomed me so warmly that I felt at home from day one. The activities in the afternoon were informative, fun and experiences for life. I learned a lot about the language, the country and myself and would recommend the school to anyone who wants an adventure and a trip that will teach you a lot for life. The teachers made it easy to arrive and learn. All in all, it was a wonderful time!

Quality of teaching / language progress: Super interesting lessons.
Other comments It was nice to meet and get to know so many different, exciting characters. It is a place of knowledge and gathering of interesting people. A wonderful place to learn and discover new things. But also a very interestingly designed class with lots of laughter.

I really liked everything. Everyone is very friendly and helpful ... all the time. The side offers (included in the price), such as excursions and conversation are interesting and also updated regularly, so I was really curious to see what would be offered the coming week. The option to use computers and copiers at no extra cost was something I did not know from other schools. I will definitely go there again. And also: great location of the school right in the city center.
Insider tip: If you like the beach, you could opt for an accommodation directly in Martil. By group taxi, it's only more 10 minutes and it doesn't cost much more (either way, 5 dhr). In low season, there are are well-priced options (also via airbnb).

Other comments During the long journey from my accommodation I always had some difficulties during the "dip at lunchtime" - when you cannot get home and you get tired. Even for that it was possible to lay down on the floor of a classroom with a blanket. That says a lot about the school.

The atmosphere is very informal. The people who work there are extremely friendly. The headmaster, Zayd, is incredibly helpful and takes the time to clarify things. In my case, it was the shared taxi transfer from Cabo Negro to the school and back, which apparently only locals can understand. But if you know how it works and where the stops are, it's easy to get to school. I would like to come back again to attend a more advanced course :)
Disliked
I cannot and would not like to complain. Overall, everything was very satisfactory.
Review details
Quality of teaching / language progress: At school, I spent a week learning the local dialect and gaining some initial insights. You don't need to expect to be a pro after one week as a beginner. That's why I'm planning to do a more advanced course at a later date.

Dar Lughat is the best place in the world! Director Zeid, assistant Aladdin, teachers - all open and good people. Here I not only improved my knowledge, but also made many new friends. Special thanks to the driver and assistant Aladdin, who became my best friend and took care of me. I advise everyone to study at Dar Lughat School in the best city in the world, Tetuan!!!
Disliked
Everything is perfect!
Insider tip: If you choose Standard Arabic course, be prepared that people do not speak it in Morocco. Here they mainly use the local dialect of Darij, not everyone understands standard Arabic.
Review details
Quality of teaching / language progress: The school uses a very effective methodology, thanks to which you can learn a lot in the class, even homework is not needed.
Other comments The best school in the world!

Imen, my teacher, her teaching method, and my classmates were great !!! And the fact that we were few in class, allowing a faster progress and opportunities to practice more our oral production !!!
Insider tip: The list goes on .... but I'd say get lost in the old medina, drink at least one fresh juice per day, obviously a mint tea, eat a tagine, try all types of breads, pancakes, fresh goat jben on its palm leaf, bathe in the waters of the beach Kabila, a trip to Zarka, talk to people, trees, and cats etc ...

I had private lessons with Ismail, a really friendly and flexible teacher who adapted exactly to my needs. The location of the school is very central and the classrooms adequate.
Disliked
Some of the course materials were faulty and poor copies. However, because I had my own documents with me, this was not so relevant for me. It was sometimes a bit noisy because the classroom doors were open or the noise came from the street when the windows were open. The digital equipment (projector or decent speakers for listening comprehension tasks) could be improved. Tétouan is probably a bit more expensive in summer due to the many tourists, especially from Spain, so the food prices were like in Europe. Instead, we explored the beautiful beaches and places in the area (Chefchaouen, Mdiq, Septa, Capo Negro, Belyounch, Fnideq, Tangier, Martil) with a rental car.

Imen is an excellent teacher, school was responsive to all questions, open Internet access at school, fantastic leisure program, during holiday lessons get postponed to another day

Other comments The only disadvantage of Tetouan Apartments and school: it is very very noisy by the road and due to the central location. Not recommendable for people sensitive to noise. On the other hand the central location allows single women to move around in the center and to get home alone during night as well.

The friendliness and helpfulness of the teachers I liked most. There was always someone on the spot when we had a problem and encouraged us in some way.
Insider tip: In any event, future students I recommend to use the activities of the school because for the most part they are very good. And to get lost a few times in the Medina to know one's way around best in the end. ;)

Other comments The school is centrally located in the new town and due to the helpfulness of the staff it is not difficult to settle in Tetuan and to get around.

Questions and answers about Dar Loughat - Cross-Cultural Language Center

  • Most countries are exempted from the visa formality. See list online. If your country is on the list, you will get a "visa waiver" when you enter Morocco. This is nothing more than a stamp in your passport as you pass customs. There is no cost involved. The visa waiver allows you to stay in Morocco as a visitor for 90 days. For those staying over that period, a stay extension will be required. Please, note that your passport must be valid until at least the day you leave Morocco.

  • Normally, courses start Monday morning, so plan to arrive on the weekend before. When departing, our courses finish on Fridays; so plan to fly out on a Saturday. Any extra accommodation nights will be charged.

  • In most cases it’s not a problem. However, if you arrive a day late, you will miss out on your first lessons and the welcoming presentation.

  • Dar Loughat closes only during two major religious holidays, which are Eid Al-Fitr (2 days following the end of the holy month of Ramadan) and Eid Al-Ad´haa (the feast of Sacrifice). All the classes missed during these days will be made up.

  • We believe the longer you are able to study, the better. Most students can expect to develop moderate fluency in 2-5 months depending on several factors (atmosphere, accommodation choice, personal motivation and number of lessons). Additionally, the longer you study, the less money you pay for your courses. For more information on our discounts system, see the program costs section.
    Lisa Lebret, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 24, 2022
  • You should plan to arrive at 8:30 am on your first day. You will be asked to take a language placement test, unless you are a complete beginner. The test will take about 30 minutes; the Head of the Arabic department will evaluate your language level and will place you in the appropriate class. Immediately after, there will be an orientation session where you will be given the classes schedule and the programme of activities for the week.
    Lisa Lebret, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 24, 2022
  • We accept all levels from complete beginners to advanced levels. Our program caters to many different language levels.
    Lisa Lebret, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 24, 2022
  • We believe that teaching a language cannot be successful solely by routine and repetition but should be creative and communicative. Our students learn very fast in our classrooms, which are highly communicative and student-centered. In addition to the official textbooks, our instructors use a wide variety of educational material such as local newspaper articles, videos, songs and popular Moroccan tales.
    Lisa Lebret, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 24, 2022
    • Sure, it's free if the arrival is between 7 am and 11 pm. Otherwise, there is a supplement of 20€.
