Participants must have a good school or college record and be fluent in English. The programme includes:
1. Advice and orientation on applying to Oxford or Cambridge. There are important deadlines, eg: Test Registration September (Step for Cambridge earlier); UCAS October. Advice is given in the Personal Statement, which is very important, and should focus on your motivation for and interest in your chosen course. The school also offers advice on college choice, or open application.
-
Written tests at and before the interview (all subjects to which this applies), with lessons with specialist tutors eg., ELAT, TSA, GEOGRAPHY Admissions Test (GAT). The tests normally take place in October.
-
Interview practice (subject specific). About half of all candidates are interviewed following the written tests, and about one third of these are offered places (Oxford). The interviews are either in person or online. They are designed to assess your academic potential and motivation to study for your chosen course. Interviews normally take place early to mid December.
-
If required the course can be combined with revision of school subjects relevant to Oxford or Cambridge prep. (The school teaches for A Level, IB, AP, and Abitur)

Pre-Sessional Course
MC Academy is delighted to have teamed up with De Montfort University, Coventry University, Greenwich University, and Bangor University, who have all agreed to accept the school's certificates as evidence of a student’s English proficiency level. This means that anyone applying to any of the aforementioned universities will not need to take a pre-sessional course or language test to meet the language requirement for entry.
How does this work in practice? When you join MC Academy, let the school know if you are interested in, or have applied to, either De Montfort University, Coventry University, Greenwich University, or Bangor University. They can then help you map your English progress to reach the level required for acceptance onto your course. Once you have achieved the level required, the school will give you a certificate with a report that shows your specific language level and this will be accepted by the universities mentioned above.
